    Good news

*edit - the Barrie zone covers ALOT more than just Barrie
It's huge! Bigger than the zones in western provinces
Collingwood, Orilla, Blue Mountain, Innisfil, Georgina

Kingston & Quebec are very large too
    Public $120 Province Wide + 12GB - $6 Autopay - $6 Loyalty - $42 Refer = $22 per Month
Telus SK North American Wide 7GB = $65
    Chatr (Mobi) $40 North America Wide + 6GB + 30 Mins Roaming

They should put the speed up a little bit. But it is fine.

Any idea if this applies to the old Mobilicity plans? I'm presuming that it should, but...

Does it have a difference between old mobilicity and chatr customers?

At the end of this month, I'm going for my first time ever to BC. I'm glad to see Victoria is covered now!

Hmmm, I guess I'll have to turn my iPhone off though on the ferry from Vancouver to Victoria to avoid roaming fees. I've read here at HoFo that iPhone devices can "leak" data even if they're in Airplane Mode.

Works for me in Winnipeg, Barrie, and Kingston - so it seems to apply to the Mobi plans as well.

Rogers has now fixed this billing issue.

Good to know now. When I was on BC Ferries three and a half weeks ago, I put my iPhone in Airplane Mode on the trip to Victoria and back. I didn't get charged a single penny in roaming fees.

Chatr worked great in Victoria and Vancouver. The new Victoria zone just covered the city and a bit west. The Butchart Gardens wasn't even close to being covered. It would have been nice if Chatr/Rogers also included the highway from the Swartz Bay ferry terminal to Victoria - highway 17, I think. Oh well.

Vancouver was the opposite with coverage just everywhere. My phone even worked at the Capilano Suspension Bridge! No coverage to and from Whistler though.

My upload speeds in Vancouver were always over 2 Mbps -- in the eastern GTA I usually max out at around 1.5 Mbps. Download speeds in both Vancouver and the eastern GTA are the same -- always just under 3 Mbps.

Good to finally have user confirmation the old Mobi plans have full access to the expanded unlimited zones. CS was saying otherwise when Montreal opened up in February.

@pjw918, thanks for remembering me from the Mobilicity forums. Sorry, I should have mentioned that I still have my Mobilicity SIM card in my iPhone. My account says I have an "Expired Mobilicity" plan.

The new Victoria zone worked great for me. As I mentioned, the zone was a bit small, but the speeds seemed as fast as Vancouver and the eastern GTA. I didn't have time to run a Speedtest -- too busy being a tourist before having to return to the ferry -- but iMessage sending photos in Victoria seemed to work as fast as in Vancouver or the eastern GTA.

I do have a question though. Why do my Speedtest runs in Vancouver say "chatr HSDPA", but all my Speedtest runs in the eastern GTA always say "chatr WCDMA"? Does it make any difference? Vancouver had great upload speeds (max 2.71 Mbps) that I rarely see in the eastern GTA. I didn't change any settings on my iPhone SE.

Chatr/Rogers was listening. According to their coverage map, they extended the Victoria zone to what I had hoped for and quite a bit beyond!

They even extended the eastern GTA. In-zone coverage used to go to Courtice, but now it includes a lot of highway 115 going to Peterborough, and goes east of Newtonville on highway 401 almost to Wesleyville.

    I'm impressed!

I hope they listen to the competition too, and let us on LTE... Or remove all the zone restrictions... Or both
    Looking forward to Wind LTE!

I can't wait for this to be the norm on wireless!
