I can still roam on Verizon EVDO, but when I restart my phone in a roaming area, it will connect to AT&T LTE instead of Verizon EVDO. Voice is Verizon CDMA.

    This was passing through Alabama.

Sprint also was the first carrier that didn't charge for long distance. They MIGHT have been the first carrier that had unlimited night minutes after 9PM too, but I'm not sure about that. I saved so much on long distance the cell phone was basically free!

Interesting. I just got on the year free deal for BYOP, so I'm a new Sprint customer. I was in Deep Creek for the 4th of July and I mostly roamed onto US Cellular. I admit that I was a bit surprised by the roaming partner I got in Deep Creek because I thought I would've been roaming onto Ntelos in Western MD. Despite what my screenshot says, I was on 3G for 99% of my trip.

nTelos no longer exists. They were purchased by Sprint. Everything in WV and western Maryland is either US Cellular or AT&T.

I heard about nTelos being bought out by Sprint, but I didn't think the network had been integrated yet.

It was actually Shentel that bought nTelos, a close affiliate with Sprint. And yeah, last I heard I don't think full integration had happened yet.

Even if it hasn't been 100% integrated, nTelos now operates as "Sprint", and the two networks freely roam onto each other. Sprint gave nTelos access to their spectrum, infrastructure, etc. to speed along their upgrade to LTE.

As of 2017, 99% of Sprint's network in Virginia and WV is LTE. As far as I know, the network has been fully or nearly fully integrated. This has been in progress for 2 years.
