I wonder if their VoLTE solution can carry over to T-Mobile......

Bout time! Regardless this is welcome happy news.

I'm hoping it gets rolled out to iPhone users before iOS 11... they can enable this through a carrier update correct?

Correct. But I think that iOS users will have iOS 11 before this is rolled out on a nationwide scale.

Queue the "Sprint can't do Volte until they complete densification" comments...actually I will make that comment myself.

    Welcome to 2014 Sprint.

I can't wait to see how much of a trainwreck this will be. Their network has poor density in many parts of the Northeast.

AT&T and Verizon have been densifying like crazy over the past few years.

It's all about location. Here in Chicago I've haven't seen sprint drop to 3G even inside buildings their band 26 holds up well. I'm just tired of the crappy 1x call quality. Hope they have cross carrier hd voice too when they launch.

Some of that is because, of 3G only towers. However by the end of July all SPrint towers will finally have LTE.

I can't see that happening. They have a lot of coverage with no LTE.

And yes, VoLTE can suck even with a decent signal on Verizon. (Especially indoors) At first I thought it was my Motorola phone, but seeing the same issues with Samsung & iPhone.

VoLTE = A nice step forward in voice quality, but an unfortunate step backwards in reliability. Pick your poison. . . . . .

I bet that it will be cross carrier compatible with Verizon at least. That has been their goal for years. Sprint counts on Verizon roaming extensively to call themselves a nationwide network and Vz is twilighting CDMA voice in 2019?

This is progress and that is good. I still don't expect Sprint to survive much longer as an independent carrier.

When will that actually happen though? There are many many area's with 3G only cell sites.

That's little over 2 months away so yes. It's possible equipment is already on the towers.
