A few messages above it is mentioned that the Mobley plan is $20/month. The iPad unlimited plan is $30/month. The mobley plan would only be worth it for me if I could put the sim in the iPad, which doesn't seem to be allowed.

It seems the mobley plan, to me, only has a few use cases. In the car, where passengers may want to use Wi-Fi based tablets or laptops, or home internet replacement devices for those in areas ill-served by fixed internet.
I now have the 7+, continuing my pattern of buying every other iPhone generation.

I just bought it as more convenient as a stand alone plan. I have a Verizon account for phone line which I don't want to change. It wasn't that high as it used to be, $400. Will see how it goes.

What I don't understand is... I bought some gophone SIM cards and put them in an IPad 3 and iPad mini 2 and this option was available to sign up for. Now I'm guessing the difference is this does not auto renew but I don't see the point in paying $100s more for auto renewing. Did AT&T bring this back in non auto renew format to combat the sellers on eBay?

You can put the sim from mobley into an iPad. You can also put it into a hotspot. Works just fine.

Keep in mind that AT&T could change plans if you put it in a tablet, as that's a different class of device (same as using an iPad SIM in a phone and vice-versa). The grey area that seems to be fine so far is Mobley<->hotspot since the Mobley is still considered a hotspot.

Will my att hotspt work if I take out the sim from the unlimited tablet data tablet and put it into a unite explore hotspot?

It says in the fine print it doesn't. And I have no reason to believe it does either. It'll probably be easy for them to take the plan away this way since you'd have to re-select it each month to renew it.

I've done that, as long as the APN is correct it has worked.

Prices are now cratering. Yesterday the unlimited plan sold for $600. Well below $1600 and up a couple months ago. And now that you can apparently signup for the plan again (the new one with a 22GB prioritization limit), I can probably finally change my plan. Go to a lower plan. Such as the 2GB for $25 plan (which is good for up to 3 months), and just switch to unlimited the month I need it. I can download app updates and magazines on Wi-Fi.

Maybe they don't want the case again where, if they drop the plan, they get people still using it years later, and selling it on eBay.
