I've got to find me an AT&T SIM card and I think I'll try it. I have a ZTE Trek 2 tablet. So hopefully I can get it activated

at least for now they do no appear to be screening the IMEI of the device used. i have successfully used the SIM in hotspots, tablets, internal PC modems and several different phones. the APN does have to be set to 'broadband' in whatever device is used.

Have you run any speedtests? Is the speed capped (like Cricket)?

It isn't capped here. I ran a few tests early this morning and the lowest d/l I've seen was 23mbps with u/l 10+. I did play around with tethering the tablet and after an hour or so of Netflix (about 3GB I reckon) the tethered speed dropped to 1.5mbps down, but directly on the tablet speeds were in the double digits.

I will try it in a Unite hotspot later on tonight.

i'm getting typical at&t postpaid/gophone speeds, i guess where i am is not congested because i see no slowdown after the 22GB 'de-prioritization' cap.

Everybody should ruin it, I mean $30 isn't cheap enough, put the Sim in devices is not intended for, give at&t a reason to discontinue it!

In typical at&t fashion no mention on how or where to obtain a Sim card.

I just used a sim card I had lying around from an old GoPhone purchase. GoPhone sims are usually available at Wal-Mart, Target, CVS/chain drug stores, Dollar General and similar, Best Buy, Frys, many chain gas stations, and the usual online stores, etc.

I kind of like the Microsoft surface 3 LTE that is available on this plan. I would allow me to run real x86 Windows.

I like android better but i need to run a lot of Windows x86 software.

However, they don't make the Microsoft surface 3 anymore so it will soon be obsolete.

So to even check eligibility you have to have an unused at&t Sim?

You must have an unused sim to satisfy AT&T's first page of the sign up form...so essentially, yes.

They are available on Amazon for $5 shipped at the moment. You may find someone on these forums to mail you one for next to nothing from a GoPhone used for Cricket or such.
