I will never buy an HTC ever again! (two broke within 4 years, which were well taken care of)

    Well done Shaw!

    $430M for the lot.

I wonder if this was an ISED precondition of the AWS-1 sale to Rogers.

    --
    Actually, there was a 5yr incumbent-sale ban on the 700MHz to 2019, on 2500MHz to 2020.
And Quebecor needed the cash (see below).

In yesterday's Globe article on the AWS-1 sale to Rogers, Desjardins valued Quebecor's remaining spectrum at $450-$900M, Canaccord Genuity $560M (outside QC, inc.Eastern Ontario).

    From the Quebecor release:
The asset sale will enable Videotron to continue investing in the development of its network in Quebec and Eastern Ontario. Videotron is planning a substantial expansion and densification of its 4G network, the roll-out of its 5G network and the upgrading of its Internet Protocol (IP) wireline network. Those expenditures will serve to support robust competition in the wireless and wireline markets in Quebec and Eastern Ontario. In fact, since Videotron launched its mobile telephony service, competitive forces have strengthened considerably in all markets where the company is present. This has resulted in substantial price decreases for consumers.

    Shaw's announcements today

Shaw announces acquisition of 700 MHZ and 2500 MHZ wireless spectrum licences from Quebecor
    ...
Brad Shaw, Chief Executive Officer of Shaw Communications, said, "We believe this incremental investment in our wireless business, particularly with the addition of the 700 MHz spectrum, will materially improve our long-term wireless customer experience, and will further enable our ability to offer converged network solutions."

The Transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and all necessary regulatory approvals from the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED), and under the Competition Act. The Transaction has received all required internal approvals at Shaw and Quebecor, and is not subject to approval by the shareholders of Shaw or further approval by the shareholders of Quebecor.

The Transaction will be funded using a combination of cash on hand and Shaw's existing credit facility, and is expected to close in the Summer of 2017.

"We are excited about our wireless opportunity, and the additional spectrum and network investment will create a compelling wireless experience for our existing and future customers," Mr. Shaw said. "We are pleased that we have entered into an agreement with Quebecor, and we are excited about putting this spectrum to use for the benefit of Canadians."

    --
At the same time, Shaw announced it had sold its cloud business ViaWest for $2.3 billion CAD and expects $900 million cash proceeds when all is settled, more than covering the cost of the spectrum purchase.

Not sure about Grad X4 / LG Stylo 3 Plus having Band 13 and 41.

Do we know what band is used by that 2500 MHz spectrum they bought in Toronto? I was interested in the Google Pixel until I learned it didn't support Band 66. If it supports the upcoming Freedom spectrum in Toronto, that's a game-changer for me.
