Corporate stores now charge for sim cards!?

So today I got my iPhone 7 Plus swapped out at the Apple store for reception issues. Just to cover all bases, I went to the AT&T Corporate Store in that same mall to get a new SIM card.

They charged me $5.30 for it! This must be something new, and a total rip off.

I wanted to get the sim, so I just sucked it up and paid for it. But the whole thing just stinks. I might call CS to get a credit for it. I'm not really worried about the 5 bucks, it's just the principal of it.

I'd get a credit for it. That doesn't sound right

While I won't pretend to know the actual cost of a SIM card for the store (probably only pennies), you should not assume that you will get a replacement for free without buying something from the store. Store policy can differ and not everybody will have the same experience.
If I'm annoyed and you're annoyed, does that make us a paranoid ??

The other day I replaced my gophone sim and the store charged $5 plus tax which they never did before. I wonder if it's
up to the individual store to charge

I know most carriers used to charge for the sim unless you bought something, but many would waive the fee. Not really surprising from carriers that charge an "upgrade fee" just to stick a sim in a new phone you get.

It seems like this comes and goes. Similar to McDonalds charging for sauce periodically.

Buy an H2O sim from Amazon. Last one I bought was 1˘ with free shipping. Just activate on ATT over the phone. If you go to the store they probably won't.

Not in a store but online and on the phone they do. When on the phone, just give them the sim number, don't tell them it's an H2O sim. I have two devices on ATT and they are using H2O sims.

I guess AT$T is looking to change their name again, A$T$T. Gotta find ways of meeting wall street marks.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 10_3_3 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/603.3.6 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/10.0 Mobile/14G5053a Safari/602.1)

At least they're not charging $30 or whatever the "Uncarrier" charges. Not defending it, no carrier should charge a fee for a store-activated SIM.

Yeah 5 isn't too bad overall. Still don't like any carrier charging for sims

Too many forget there is an overhead cost to have a representative provide a SIM to a customer. Granted it may not be very much, but it could result in the potential loss of a product (device or feature) sale by a representative to another customer. There are few things in life that are free.
