    Question iPhone5S Dead for Good?

This afternoon I was using my phone to make a call, after the call I hung up, placed my phone on my desk, then went about my day as normal. I went back got my phone to make another phone call and noticed a black screen, I held the on/off switch and home button, it remained black. I plugged my phone into a USB chord via my laptop's USB and nothing there either. My phone was at 70% charge.

I've had this phone since June 2016, up until now July 2017. This phone is a replacement phone from Boost Mobile my previous carrier, which I have heard their replacement devices are used or refurbished devices, so they may work wonders or they may clunk out.

So what happened to my phone? And no I am NOT with Boost Mobile anymore so I cannot call them and ask for a new phone. Do you think my phone's battery is dead or the phone itself just died out altogether? How can I retrieve my data on my phone?

P.S. I have had my phone attached to a new re-chargeable case, using that for when the battery is super low and the case has been working smoothly with no issues. Just today all of sudden this thing happened to my phone.

Hold the power, volume up and home buttons at the same time and see if it boots up

If it's just the screen that's dead, it may still sync with iTunes. Have you tried plugging it in to see if it syncs up?

Leave it for a while. If it still does it. Do it again

Okay I did that and it did load up and return to my passcode screen and I am able to use it again. It is at 50% battery life too. So what happened?

To tell you the truth I've never been able to explain it. But in my Verizon days as a specialist, I learned that usually fixes it

Well it did indeed fix it, but wonder why this happened in the first place.

That is common with all cellular carriers. Nothing unusual. Warranty replacement phones are rarely new, out of the box.
If I'm annoyed and you're annoyed, does that make us a paranoid ??

Take this scare as a good reminder to backup your phone on a regular basis.

    This isn't an Android phone.
Q: Would you patronize a streetwalker?

A: No, I would treat her as an equal.
