Doesn't matter for a lot Of areas. I can't even pull 1mbps in my area even on sprint. Lucky to have any data at all lol.

Very good point. Lol. Sprint does okay in my area but nothing compared to the other 3... AT&T slacks around 12 Mbps.

In one area in the city when I travel Sprint I've seen a max around 20mbps on LTE. And on AT&T at the same time and place 130mbps over LTE. Granted the 20mbps was over Tello and not Sprint but still

Did several tests a few minutes ago. On the gsm lte sim, using the speed test app, downloads appear to be throttled at ~1mbps, uploads are around 8-10 mbps.

Doing the test on dslreports.com/speedtest, I get about 14 mbps on the download, 8 mbps upload. Maybe they're just throttling the speed test sites?

Edit: Doing the test on a different phone with a different lte sim I get 30 mbps on the download. Something's not right [email protected]#

Edit2: Tried again on the first phone, now getting unthrottled speeds again. I didn't check to see which band it was connected to the first time. Wonder if that had something to do with it.

On my Sprint FP devices I can see the initial speed spike, and then watch the throttling kick in and clamp down the speed to 1 Mbps.

Not yet impacting my FP Global SIM or my FP LTE SIM, but I'm not running out to get more of those right away because they, too, could be throttled at any time.

Used my FP-Sprint today. I was getting 1.5 - 3 Mbps. I was seeing the 1 Mbps when this topic started.

[Edit] 1.5 - 3 Mbps is about all I ever got on LTE at home. It's not a great signal location and I don't have a tri-band phone.

If they go back to throttling, eh whatever. I can do what I need to do with 1 Mbps. It's just for backup for when the power or cable go out. It's good enough for free. [/Edit]

    Location central Virginia.

    Well, well well!

Your post prompted me to perform a speedtest on my FP Sprint Volt.

When this topic started I was getting 1 Mbps (I'd had much faster speeds before that). The throttling was obvious: you could see the test DL start at high speeds, and then watch it be clamped-down to almost exactly 1 Mbps as the test progressed.

Just now, in the "garden-level" den of my house in Chicago (normally not "optimal" for LTE) I got 8.65Mbps down and 4.65 Mbps up.

I got extremely odd speeds of 0.3 down and 1.3 up today. Before it had been about 1 and 1.

I think their "speed governor" is probably erratic and unreliable, just like RingPlus's turned out to be. Remember RingPlus eventually concluded the "governor" technology, which they got from a third-party, was not viable. This version may be from a different source but it may not be viable either.

You get this odd results if the tower is congested. A speedtest at a time when the tower is not busy like very morning will give the actual results.

Except this was at very early hours.

Also I get 20 down, 3 up, on my Sprint postpaid accounts at the exact same time (and around the clock - I use the postpaid accounts for my Internet connection and those speeds never falter).

I have not seen my Tello account stall out either.

Now, maybe there is indeed congestion where it goes through the Freedom Pop throttling location, or in the path to it. That is probably quite true. It does not look like the congestion is at the Sprint tower though.
