Any info - WiFi calling in the future ?

    Hi,

Having come from Sprint I was familiar with WiFi calling (and relied upon it due to a weak Sprint signal at the house). Is there any info out there as to whether Cricket might activate this feature in 2017-2018? I'm struggling with a marginal AT&T/Cricket signal for voice while inside as well.

Do you have weak signal on 4g or LTE or both? If your LTE signal is stronger than your 4g, do you have VoLTE activated on your line?

Cricket announced about 4 months ago that WiFi calling would be available this year.. who knows just when though.

In addition, we plan to make Wi-Fi calling available this year. This means when you’re in an area where the wireless signal is hard to get, you can make calls using the Wi-Fi network instead.

You might also try switching LTE off to force 4g. You may get better signal friending on your bands. What phone is it? Maybe your phone just has poor band coverage?

4G signal is marginally stronger than LTE. Specifically, using iPhone field test mode, here are the signal strengths at various points around the house:

    4G: -100, -106, -103
    LTE: -115, -111, -118

I have LTE activated for data and voice, however the phone falls back to 4G for calls (so VoLTE must not be active for me yet).

Unfortunately, none yet. A good friend has been waiting for this, for ages - and continues to pay $90/mo to AT&T due to coverage in his warehouse style office being dead.

Do you have the "stream more" in account settings? Try toggling that.

If not change your plan then quickly change it back.

That might activate calls over lte, but WiFi calling hasn't been activated yet.

The person I quoted is having problems on an iPhone 6s with falling back to 4G while on voice call instead of staying on LTE.

WiFi Calling on Cricket is launching 7/21

At launch only one phone will be supported, that is the LG X Charge, which also launches Friday. My assumption is that other phones, including several current phones from cricket will have wifi calling functionality enabled soon, including the iphones.

And yes you can use The WiFi calling anywhere you have WiFi, including internationally in countries where cricket doesn't roam.
