Question iPhone 6 now slightly bent, options? purchased from AT&T #bendgate

my iPhone 6 is now bent (not sure how this happened)

trying to figure out my options... if any

can I get it replaced? how? what do I say?

    * purchased originally from AT&T w/AppleCare (ordered online from my account att.com & mailed to me)
    * no longer on Apple Care (it was on the 2 year now passed)
    * replaced once via Apple Care at Apple Store, for battery issue a few years back

can I just walk into an AT&T store and show them its slightly bent? what was bendgate all about?
does AT&T do anything? should I goto Apple store?

can I live with the bend? I guess, I was just waiting for the next iPhone or some crazy iPhone 7 Plus deal too good to pass up & was going to sell my old iPhone 6 on eBay

    if this matters
    longtime AT&T customer (LA Cellular > AT&T > Cingular > AT&T)
on grandfathered unlimited data plan from 2010, no reason to change, have a good FAN attached (for % discount)
& my company pays $100/month of my cell phone bill

All iPhone warranty work is done by Apple. The carrier is only involved during the fourteen day remorse period. Enter the serial number in the appropriate Apple support web page to see your options.

Bent? Like how bent is it? Is the aluminum case bent or just the display is bowed? Sometimes the battery can expand and cause the display to warp. If it's the battery, then I would be worried and would either replace the battery or replace the phone soon.

ATT might replace it if you have some sort of repair service contract with ATT. Seems like carriers now sell options for phone repairs and upgrades.

After 12 months Att will not repair the phone. If the OP has insurance then Assurian would have to make that call. If they determine it is user damage than the OP is out of luck.

no current insurance with anyone (had a 2 year AppleCare now expired)

it is only the aluminum case that is bent not the display.
it is not really noticeable unless you place the naked iPhone 6 on a flat surface or look at it side-wise
it still fits & works in my Morphie cases

why fix it? who knows when I will actually get my hands on a new iPhone
reselling this on ebay is always an option but of course i would have to disclose the bend which really shoots the value down

what 3rd party fixes things such as this?
any guess what Apple would charge? (have not brought it in yet)

Is this a 6 or a 6 Plus? Bending seems to be mostly an issue with the 6 Plus.

I can't imagine there is any repair other than replacement. Apple will charge $299 to replace a 6, or $329 to replace a 6 Plus. I doubt the phone is worth that much, with the next generation of iPhone just two months away.

Why not bring it in to the Apple Store, just to see what the genius will say? They might surprise you and replace it for free. If not, I would just live with it. It sounds like a very small bend that does not affect the operation of the phone.

Depending on how handy you are, you could remove the display and try to bend the case straight. I wouldn't do it with the display attached. I replaced my iPhone volume button flex cable using a guide on ifixit. Not very difficult at all. Hardest part was removing the battery. You probably wouldn't need to remove the battery to straighten the case.
