Seems like Verizon is very confident with all that capacity they have 🙄 I mean really , why throttle users to speeds that are sometimes not even useable ? AT&T and T-Mobile aren't doing that

Itís not like I canít live with 720p on a phone when Iím not home, itís that timeline scrubbing and initial video buffering becomes a pain. But Iím happy to say with VPN, 1 button fixes all that.

1080p should be good enough for most everything but the huge 4k tv's shouldn't it?

I prefer 1440p on a 1080p screen. The image just looks sharper with downsampling. But on a phone, I donít care too much.

Yeah the resolution isn't what's pissing me off it's the time it takes to scrub and initially load videos now...for that I'm livid. I have a VPN but It's never been reliable enough to keep on all the time and the transition time between LTE and wifi is too long with it on. Plus Netflix and other non video related services block VPN's.

They will probably throttle vpn traffic later.

Now observing throttling on the tablet line:

Now my primary use for this iPad line has been stifled by the fact that YT doesn't load up super quick anymore, nor can I scrub through video quickly. The VPN didn't help because the peering appeared to be choking somewhere.

I'm sure once they see a major uptick in VPN traffic they will start throttling that to the same as video speeds.

As if they need to throttle there , they are so spectrum starved as it is in Vegas

Indeed. Verizon will follow TMobile and soon start throttling all traffic that is vpn related, even legitimate non video traffic. Or go Netflix route and nix it altogether. Either way the ride is over.

They will only throttle VPN when it's congested like normal.
What they cannot do is limit 720 vs 1080.
Good intentions will always be pleaded for every assumption of authority. It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters. -- Daniel Webster

Verizon should throttle all streaming video. It impacts folks that are surfing the web or trying to do work with their phones. The network can't handle everyone streaming away.

Honestly, this is really going to hurt Verizon more than anything. The throttle isn't doing anything for speeds. And now it just seems like everything is slow. Twitter, Instagram now take a long time to load.

I have no idea how Verizon can advertise their network is the "best" but can't handle Instagram posts. I might have to switch carriers soon. There's no reason to have 100mbps speeds when everything I use on a daily basis is throttled to 4mbps because they can't handle it and still want to charge a premium for a network that can't handle anything.

It's handled it just fine for months in my market.

I agree. But where are you gonna go? Everyone else is doing the same thing or will be soon enough.
