Is it a coincidence that this throttling happens to be on the same day that band 2 is widened to 20MHz?

AT&T did the same thing last week to all of my lines and now Verizon has done the exact same thing but instead of 5 meg limits it's 10. This is a clear FCC violation. How the heck am I supposed to stream 4K stuff now ?

Yes tested and confirmed it's on all of my old school lines. I suggest that everybody contact your local news station and report this asap ! This isn't fake news

Tested and confirmed on my grandfathered unlimited data plan. Youtube videos take a few seconds to load initially now and when jumping to different parts of the video.

I like Verizon for their coverage, but if they start taking grandfathered UDP plans and subjecting them to the same rules as regular plans, including the 22 or 23 GB soft cap, there won't be much benefit to keeping them.

That would be a clear FCC violation. They are likely to get fined over what has taken place the last 24 hours

I'm sure this will be a very unpopular opinion, but here's mine...

I'd be thrilled if they throttled EVERYONE to 10 Mbps for EVERYTHING if it meant improved capacity across their network. No one NEEDS 150 Mbps on a cell phone. Maybe if they just capped all data speeds across the board, people wouldn't be seeing 1 Mbps (and sometimes less) at times. I'd rather have a consistent 10 Mbps ALL the time vs. 150 Mbps sometimes and 1-2 Mbps at other times.

Disagree and you must not live in a rural area where there are limited choices for internet

I said it would be an unpopular opinion.

Using Verizon for home internet is what is contributing to the capacity issues on their network. Verizon clearly wasn't ready for unlimited and now everyone is suffering. I think they should throttle everything for everyone. Maybe a tiered throttling system. 10-50 Mbps until you hit 10 GB, 10-20 Mbps for the next 10 GB of data and then 5-10 Mbps after that.

No wonder fast.com was slow at speedtesting. I'm glad it's not it's me. However, the same website was testing over 110 Mbps just before 4th of July on VZ LTE. Which seems odd because this throttling may have just started not too long ago.

Not for me. I've noticed this since early July.
