Finally gave up LG and went Samsung

Well after 11 years of being an LG only guy I finally broke down and ordered a Samsung S8 which should arrive tomorrow. Many of my LG phones were great but the last two I used (G3 and G4) were both problematic and decided it was time for a brand change. Hopefully I am happy with the S8 as all of the reviews I read were very good on it.

Welcome to the family Larry! You'll love it (for the most part).

Well for one thing the battery life is way better! When I press a function it actually moves to that function quick and doesn't have the lag that my G4 had.

How has the service been so far compared to the LG? Have they launched SMR up there yet?

Service is about the same. Can't say I notice any difference but have no issues with that around here. No SMR here as Orange County is in the border zone along with San Diego for some reason even though technically we are way more than enough distance away. I have hit SMR up in Los Angeles for voice calls.

    Now for the negatives.

The s8 simply doesn't have the sound volume that my G4 had. I have to turn the volume all the way to max to play videos sometimes and even then it's not loud enough. Also the Bluetooth volume when connected to my car while playing Youtube videos is low compared to my G4 so I have to crank the car volume way up and then make sure I turn it back down again when finished or it will blast the next time I use the radio. Other volumes like the earpiece are fine.

That's why I decided on the s8. I was tired of having a big heavy phone in my pocket. The s8 is so narrow and light I don't even feel it in my pocket.

I currently swap between an LG G6 and a Galaxy S8+. I love both devices for different reasons. The Samsung has a great display and is fun to use with a Gear VR, but I honestly love the LG form factor. The G3 and G4 were both junk, but they corrected all of the problems with the G6.

Both phones are great. I understand that you had a bad experience with LG in the past, but those problems have been fixed with their new phones.

Am I hearing correctly that LG has produced a Quality Android Phone without a serious flaw? Always liked LG phones, just always drove me crazy how they would miss the mark on this feature or that.

I had both the G3 and G4. Both had issues where the phone would end up failing and had to be replaced. Freezing up a lot too. Not to mention the horrific battery life. The G5 was very unimpressive and I never once thought about getting one.

Hopefully Samsung has solved that little problem they had recently with making things that explode.
