    Get Number Back

    Hi, I had a Public Mobile account that was inactive because I did not top up on the renewal date. I tried to get it started again but I was having a problem in the self-serve. I contacted customer support to sort it out, but now when I try to even access my account it does not exist.

    I was told I need to start a completely new account, which I did, but I am having a problem getting my number back. I checked and the number is showing as inactive. I contacted customer support to get the number back but I was told that it could be 1-2 years before the number becomes available again to use.

    Is there any way I can get the number back?

    Who is the original provider that assigned you the number?

    BS. Numbers are back in use after 90 days. While technically a number is retrievable, it does require a back-end tech to do it. I doubt PM reps would escalate it, as it was your fault.

    Number can be retrieved same day as cancel by an internal rep
    The 1 to 2 years comment is odd (does someone else have your number now?) since 90 days is the normal time

    Thanks for the advice. The number looks like it is inactive.

    I messaged the moderator team who told me I can't get it back. What other steps can I take?

    Sorry, I don't know how I missed that. The original provider is Public Mobile.

    Talk to TELUS high level reps, customer relations, office of the president or whatever. Activate a TELUS postpaid account, tell them you will stay with TELUS if they give your number back. Then port out as soon as you get it back. Assuming the number is worth all this hassle. Or wait 90 days and the number will be available again through Koodo, Public Mobile, and TELUS.

    Thanks 5714. Is it 90 days from the account being suspended or 90 days from the account being completely deleted? My account was suspended on February 14 because I did not top up. I guess the account should have been deleted on May 14 but I am pretty sure it was still in suspended state after May 14. It is just recently that I learned that my account was deleted.

    I am actually looking to sign up with Koodo so I called customer service and asked about getting the number back. They said go to a Koodo kiosk with my account information and see what they can do.
