    Bellus outage in Atlantic Canada

Looks like there is a major Bellus outage out East, and maybe some of Eastlink/Rogers (though most reports seem like Rogers is generally working). Culprit is possibly a fibre cut in Montreal.

I've also lost voice and text service on both of my Bell (via PC Mobility) accounts here in Ottawa. Data is working, though.

Eastlink and Rogers unaffected. I have Rogers and didn't have an issue the entire time. Bell/Telus and their sub brands were completely cut off. Service seems to have returned to my office co workers here in St. John's as of 15 mins ago. Pure pandemonium. Banks shut down airport almost shut down. It's surprising how much we rely on cell technology from one provider

Glad to hear Rogers and Eastlink were still up and running, they had an alert for some addresses in NS but all reports seem like they had no issues.

I'm not aware of the ins and outs of the situation here, but Telus is saying it was a fibre cut, and since Bell is their partner out east I'm a little baffled that Bell doesn't have more redundancies in this situation since they are such a vital provider out there.

I agree. Especially since they're the main provider for Atlantic Canada as well in terms of overall market share you'd think they'd have the most redundancy of any provider to avoid situations like this. A single fibre link connecting 4 provinces with a total population of about 2.3 million is pretty sad.

They had 2 separate cuts. One had occurred overnight, the second in the AM.
