Yes. Facebook Messenger works (it does not use SIP protocol). Skype, Whatsapp, Viber, Google Voice also work. But, for example, Vonage or MajicJet clients may not work.

    Moto E4 VZW/ATT/TMO $42 @ Walmart (In-Store Only)

Can I use this with Total Wireless? If so, can I simply insert an already activated SIM card or will I need another new SIM card specifically for this phone?

You will need to unlock but you can use an already activated TW SIM if it's nano. https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpo...postcount=3950

hey, I notice that it said in the back of the box that this phone may only be used on Verizon for 12 months first before unlocking...
Don't you breaking any rule by unlocking it using ebay to use on other carriers?

It’s your phone once you pay. You do what you want. Verizon just won’t unlock it free for 12 months.
Get $25 credit by switching to Cricket Wireless! Then $250 by referring others! Same AT&T signal! Click here!

They will unlock it too if you make $70 in payments to your account while the phone is associated with it. I bought it as a backup phone, inserted SIM from other phone, ensured the phone showed up on the online account page, then unlocked it via Verizon.

This way it is available for use on Verizon postpaid too at some point. Otherwise, if unlocked for small amount via someone on eBay, it probably won't work on Verizon postpaid, though it would still be usable with other non CDMA users.

Don't want to comment about use on Sprint since I have no recent knowledge with them.
I now have the 7+, continuing my pattern of buying myself the new generation iPhone about every 2 years.

That restriction only applies to free carrier unlocking, not 3rd party paid unlocking.

    [Wikipedia]:
"On August 1, 2014, President Obama signed into law the Unlocking Consumer Choice and Wireless Competition Act (S. 517; 113th Congress), a bill legalizing unlocking cellphones in the US.[63][64] The bill passed in the United States Senate on July 15, 2014, and in the United States House of Representatives on July 25, 2014."

can you unlock it with $3 services on ebay then use it for Total Wireless?

Not sure if verizon prevents it from using directly with its associated MVNO subsidiaries

It can definitely be used with AT&T and T-Mobile and their MVNOs after unlocking it with an unlock code from eBay.
I paid $2.09 for my unlock code.

I am at the moment using a Tracfone/Verizon SIM card in my Moto E4.
I am planning on switching my Tracfone account over to either a Tracfone/T-Mobile or a Tracfone/AT&T SIM in the next few weeks.
It is a very nice phone and I am very happy with it.

I have a lot of phones and this one is very very nice.

I am very happy that I saw some posts here on HoFo talking about it and that it can be unlocked to use with other carriers especially Tracfone.

I had previously been using the unlocked GoPhone Phoenix 2 for almost a year.
    Got it last Black Friday.

Does TracFone via Verizon or at&t have volte calling and if so does it work on this phone, I know TracFone has had volte via TMobile for at least 2 years.

Just got my Phoenix 2 , was surprised to see it has NFC. I tried to check for Android 7 update via WiFi and my net10 att sim and it said it's up to date.
I didn't need this phone, but I had to try it as it seems like a favorite budget phone around here!
