The minute someone joins this plan they have a much larger data stash than you.

I know, but it's psychological. A guy I work with made the switch, he constantly complains how spotify counts against his Unlimited data and that he is getting "Throttled". Folks are leery of Change.

Personally I like the perks of the older plan (generous Roaming, unthrottled tethering)

I might be thinking of International roaming(or confusing with Sprint's GF plans)

Is he really truly getting throttled after 50GB of use?

I always understood that the throttling is possible, not an "always".

Are you saying that T-Mobile will permanently default your video viewing to Binge On and Music Freedom status ON with this 55+ and other T-Mobile plans, not allowing you to switch it off with #263# ?

On any of the TMobile one plans, yes. Unless you pay extra for hd steaming.

I don't know what I'm bingon is. I suppose it is some sort of Microsoft-based Star Trek villain.

The 55+plan does NOT come with binge on you don’t need it. Data is unlimited up to 50 GB before depriortorizing on congested tower

It's not called Binge On on the One Plan. But yes, what the terms state is your video will be throttled and it is not an adjustable setting. And only 3G tethering is provided:

    Unlimited 55+
    2 lines $60/mo.

55yr old+ get 2 lines with unlimited talk, text and LTE data on America’s best unlimited network for $60/mo. with AutoPay.

Min. age 55. On all T-Mobile plans, during congestion, the small fraction of customers using >50GB/mo. may notice reduced speeds until next bill cycle due to data prioritization. Video typically streams on smartphone/tablet at DVD quality (480p). Sales tax & regulatory fees included in mo. service price. Tethering at max 3G speeds.
