Evdo shut down in Daytona Beach Fl?

So was on the board walk and LTE was slow so I decided to switch to 3G only and to my surprise I got no service. This area had service in the past and currently has about 2 bars band 4 and 4 bars of band 13. I am on a Qualcomm iPhone 7+. Did Verizon shut down evdo completely down here?

I'm surprised it didn't at least connect to 1x. They're not supposed to decommision CDMA until 2019, but the are shutting down evdo 3G, just leaving 1x for legacy devices.

Could be, Verizon doesn't own 850mhz in eastern Florida so it's just band 13,2,4. CDMA is just on 1900mhz PCS

Might be an LTE only small cell serving this part of the boardwalk or an LTE only macro.

Back in Pittsburgh evdo still running here and there are. No
Small cells there I looked for them but I have had evdo service there in the past. I believe they have shut it all down. I think they are really hurting for spectrum down there. And I did not try a phone call it simply just displayed no service in the status bar

I don't think they'd shut down CDMA completely. Do you know how many elderly individuals there must be in FL with old Verizon CDMA smartphones or flip phones?

Time to upgrade. They would love an LG Exalt LTE.

Yea and alarm systems, OnStar, Hum+ which they actively sell, and many other M2M devices would be bricks. AT&T gave years of notice, so I would hope Verizon would do the same.

Verizon doesn't own any 850mhz in Daytona so you were either out of range of PCS or they refarmed the spectrum

Is it time to upgrade? Probably. Would they get more reliable service on LTE, being that new sites are LTE only? Probably.

But I sell phones for a living, most elderly individuals don't want to be bothered to learn a new system. Also, Verizon would have to provide notice and accommodate new devices for these customers.

I'm in the same boat...you can tell them all day long about why they should upgrade but they just don't do it. Then when they finally decide to upgrade they get mad at you when there's no way to recover any data off their phone.

This person reports that 3G has disappeared. https://www.reddit.com/r/NoContract/...ne_no_more_3g/ It's probably Verizon EVDO?
