Contiguous A + B blocks of 700MHz LTE but still only 5MHz wide channels

Does anyone know when Rogers will start using full 10MHz wide 700MHz LTE channels since they can achieve this with their contiguous A + B blocks of spectrum? Note that I'm not referring to carrier aggregation. It is my understanding that with contiguous blocks of spectrum, they can be combined and broadcast to make it look like one very wide channel instead of aggregating two 5MHz channels. I'm asking because my wife's iPhone 6 still only shows 5MHz when she's connected to 700MHz LTE.

Does the phone also have to support this particular feature? If so, does iPhone 6 support it?

If they don't mind losing all the B17 phones out there, they can do it today.

They would have to deploy as a single 10 MHz B12 channel. No option for MFBI or B17.

Basically, they will deploy 10MHz B12 here soon (at least in Vancouver), if they haven't already on selected towers.

They are already advertising 10MHz B12, which lines up with their current 5MHz B12.

    Current setup in Vancouver is:
    5MHz B17 EARFCN 5760
    5MHZ B12 EARFCN 5035

All phones that support an LTE band must support the required bandwidths (there are a few exceptions, but this is explicitly stated usually). So your iPhone will support it.

But iPhone 6 does not support band 12. It supports bands 13 and 17. iPhone 6S and newer support band 12, along with 13 and 17.
