Cricket Wireless will allow plan changes on suspended accounts

Before, if your account was suspended you were able to remove add on features like Cricket protect, int calls to some countries, Hotspot but not able to change plans. A full payment was required in order to make changes on suspended accounts. Now you will be able to downgrade your plan even if your account is suspended. This will be available as of Sept, 17.

This is a somewhat random policy change to be aware of, isn't it? Do suspended accounts happen often enough that this was something people were grappling with?
Been gone a long time. Hello, HoFo- I'm BACK.

Probably more of a benefit for cash customers (which is obvious because if you’re on auto-pay your account probably isn’t suspended). Say I was on a $50 plan but wanted to change to a $40, so I buy a $40 refill card. I put the $ on the account but forget to change my plan. Now I get shut off because I have $40 and the system charges $50. Now the account is suspended and there was no way to change the plan, so I’d have to go get another $10 refill card to turn the service back on, then switch the plan. Definitely not a good customer experience, so I’m sure that’s why they changed it.

Wonder if this will also effect accounts that are pending for a new phone activation... usually during the time between ordering a line and getting it activated, you can't make any other changes on the account.

You can't make changes to a line / account that doesn't exist (pending). The only changes you can make is on the porting info if it was incorrect and you have to correct it.

So basically, if I was on the $60 plan, missed the payment and my account got suspended, I can downgrade a cheaper plan, pay that, and get my phone cut back on?
