    Puretalk compared to Cricket

Puretalk new plans compared to Cricket starting Oct 1st:
Not bad especially since MMS and hotspot will work on Puretalk on Iphones:

$Puretalk 20 unlimited minutes, messages and data with the first 500 MB at high speed

$25 Puretalk unlimited minutes, messages and data with the first 1 GB at high speed
    Cricket: no data

$30 Puretalk unlimited minutes, messages and data with the first 3 GB at high speed
    Cricket 1gb

$35 Puretalk unlimited minutes, messages and data with the first 5 GB at high speed

    $40 Cricket 4gb

$45 Puretalk unlimited minutes, messages and data with the first 10 GB at high speed

Yep, including hotspot is the kicker... great deal!

For those interested in PureTalk they have their own thread here with 1st month discount code for HOFO's (promo code HOFO75 75% off)

    Puretalk compared to Cricket

    Puretalk $35 for 5 GB
    Cricket $35 for 4-8GB
Nothing exciting at all....aMVNO owned by Telrite Corp, with hotspot included, NO WiFi calling , using AT&T mobility.
I guess I stay with parent company. It’s not exciting

Nothing beats Cricket when you utilize the groupsave to get 4GB for $20 a month

Shocking that cricket folks have "discovered" PureTalk in 2017. These guys have been around forever with no 8 mbps download cap, American customer service, hotspot, iPhone support, et cetera. PureTalk was cricket before cricket was cool. What? No heavy-handed overlording from AT&T? MMS that works? Fear not! You can get used to that.

Where does it state throttle after you hit data limit? Looks to be a hard cap from the site.

The quote is about download rate(speed), not total amount downloaded.

But there is no hard cap. See new Puretalk stickie thread, post 19.

These rates are competitive for the lower end plans if you can’t get in a group plan on Cricket.
For example my friend loves Cricket but she pays $30 for 1gb and barely uses 200mb. So she may switch to PT $20 plan with 500mb data and save $120 per year.

It's nice that even the 500MB plan has unlimited throttled data. I use GV for texting, which means texts are sent via data. If I had hard capped data, I'd be worried about running out because I'd lose my GV texts.

I like that Red pocket and pure talk are distinguishing themselves from other MVNOs. The lower entry point without a group is sorely needed in the marketplace. Glad that they are filling this void. I hope MintSim $15 plan for unlimited t&t with 2 gb becomes industry standard.

Got an answer on the PureTalk thread (imagine that) - taxes and fees are not included so that is going to close the price gaps a little bit.

I also saw that mobile tethering is only supported on iPhones.

I'm not going to move, but I may put the kids on it.
