Engineering screens on devices display the a/u/erfcn which is different and must be converted to find the center of the given frequency. The 1775/2175 you mentioned seeing is not the frequency. Verizon's AWS-3 B66 J Block, for example, will show the EARFCN at 67086 in Service Mode/Fieldtest which will calculate to 1775/2175 center frequency (1770-1780/2170-2180).

My phone doesn't have a engineering screen that I can access... I use CellMapper with Android 4.2 API to read Frequency Data.

I wouldn't count on that to be reliable.

It is reliable because when I see B12 at 739MHz on CellMapper it is at 739MHz on a Spectrum analyzer.. Same for 2(1940), 5(882.5), and 4(2115).

They aren't completely innacurate don't get me wrong. If you want to check, go on Cellmapper and look at several of the sites on T-Mobile just west of Detroit, Michigan along 24 (310-260). It is showing many as having B66 with coresponding frequencies. Impossible because T-Mobile doesn't have any AWS-3 (G,H,I, or J blocks) anywhere in southern Michigan. They are also showing B31 and 32 which aren't even in use in the U.S. Nor does my T-Mo S8 even have those bands.

Probably pre 7.0 readings... Before 7.0 my phone didn't show Frequencies at least not all of them (some we're wrong)... After 7.0 it did (fixed/enabled).... GSM is still messed up when uploading.... The Display is right but the points upload as DCS Band.

At the end of the day your phone doesn’t support B66 so it won’t pick it up. Any app that says otherwise is inaccurate and giving you false readings. Your phone requires the proper antenna, filters, duplexers and other parts in order to support a frequency. It can’t just be added in a software update unless it supports the proper hardware.

    The modem shows B66 compatible

Cool, and the modem in the iPhone 8/8+/X Qualcomm variants and the Note 8 are Band 71 compatible. They don’t support the other necessary components to make it work... hence why they don’t claim Band 71 support.

Here is a good example of why Cellmapper isn't reliable. On the left info box it is showing frequencies within Verizons J Block. Hell, they even threw some B71 in the mix.

It has B4 Antenna which is used for WiFi 2GHz and GPS...
Also a software update just occurred on the First of October and said Security and Modem Updates...

Band 4 isn’t Band 66. Band 66 has additional frequencies not covered by Band 4.

And WiFi uses 2.4 GHz which isn’t even remotely close to the 1700/2100 MHz found in AWS... GPS uses between 1200 MHz and 1600 MHz... also not the same as AWS-1.

And modem updates doesn’t mean it will suddenly support Band 66. The phone was released in May of 2016 before any phones even supported Band 66... not sure what point you’re trying to argue here.

When I touch the AWS antenna my AWS B4 and WiFi loose signal...
