Staying on HSPA+ after phone call?

I'm currently using a factory unlocked LG G5.

Ever since I switched to cricket, 90% of the time, after I complete a phone call, the data stays connected to HSPA+ and doesn't revert back to LTE. I have to manually toggle airplane mode to have it regain the LTE connection.

I'm trying to figure out if this is a cricket thing or related to my non-cricket phone?

Are you saying it never" switches back to Lte automatically?

Yeah, my Cricket phones/SIMs often take a while to switch back(They do switch back though). That's on top of them switching often to 4g even though no phone calls involved.

PS: I'm less than 8 miles from Cricket HQ(ATL).

    So, guess it's a network/coverage thing.

Pss: I have switched temporarily to MetroPcs to take advantage of new phone porting special.

As an aside: Even with 3 unlocked Cricket phones, they virtually never switch to 4g(hspa+) when used on T-Mobile network with Tmo/Metro/SimpleMo SIMs, except for phone calls. And after calls, they switch back to Lte almost immediately.

Staying on HSPA+ after phone call?

It’s probably your phone downloading data.

For example, if your downloading data or uploading, your phone will stay on the last connection it had so it doesn’t interrupt the download/upload. Once it’s done, then it should switch back. All depends on what you got going on in the background as far as download/uploads.

My iPhone used to do it too, if I’m downloading something on the background and got a phone call, it would switch to 4g and not revert back until I toggled airplane mode or waited for the file to finish downloading. We no longer have this issue since my phone now uses LTE for phone calls.

I see the same thing on Cricket, AT&T Prepaid and now with T-Mobile with a Moto G4 Plus and a 5G Plus.
