Is the moto e4 free when you add a line or only when you port a number?

Yup, go for it! THe Moto E4 is a solid phone that will serve you well..good speaker/talk quality, good camera, very good battery life, and very nice screen.

    That sucks

We have a v20 and a pixel so these would be backups

Any other ones with fingerprint readers?

The Blade Zmax mentioned above has just about all you can think of in a free phone. Pretty huge though(6" full HD screen), huge battery too.

Love mine even though it's not cool to like huge phones.

I picked up a blade zmax to mess around with, the screen is nice, cameras are eh, speaker is terrible, but the main complaint I have is, I don't know what's up with ZTE software but ram managment is absolutely terrible on the blade zmax. In my opinion the Moto e4 is a better device. I haven't used the metro variant but have used the unlocked version (only difference is the fingerprint sensor) and I'd give the edge in screen to the blade zmax, but as far as performance the e4 is the smoother device. It doesn't have the ram managment issues the blade does. Cameras I'd say are about equal between the e4 and blade, speaker the e4 kills the blade, overall I'd say the e4 is better. I'd only choose the blade if I wanted a big device with a giant screen and better battery life. Everything else the e4 wins rather easily also. That's just my opinion.

Is the fingerprint reader a deal killer? I dislike them if finger is wet as it would not recognize mine until dry. I often shoot photos from my kayak(s) and ended up disabling it..too annoying. Setting a pin has never let me down...especially if one needs someone else to make a call or use the phone. If you can't live without that feature, get the unlocked model or the US Cellular version.
