Netgear Unite Explore New update is here!!

ive been waiting for an update from ATT for the explore, i check for updates every few weeks and just today i got the new update, anyone with a explore knows about the software being really buggy...anything from restarts device to dropping LTE-device locking up etc.. well so far i havent notice anything different with the update but maybe others will with this post?

This is the main reason I've avoided the Explore, and opted for the ZTE Velocity. Reliability. My history of Netgear has me sworn off their products for well over a decade now, and current reports of buggyness are simply reaffirming that history. I'll trade a few mbps in speed for reliability any day of the week. (ZTE 2X CA, UE 3X CA).

What's the firmware version and firmware date? Because I checked and my unit says it's up to date. My firmware has a date of 8/24/17 and the version is ntg9x40c_11.14.08.28

Mine shows the same as yours and is an unlocked version. It looks like Netgear shoved out the update in August and ATT is just now pushing it out to their locked version.

    Release date: September 27, 2017

and i think u are 100% right about the unlock ones getting the updates first, mine is lock and got the update over the weekend

I can definitely say the battery thing is definitely better. If my Explore went dead it would take 5 mins for it to finally boot up. Now it only takes at most a minute. So boot from a dead battery is definitely quicker. Everything else seems about the same

yup, since they were making a update to software, they should of saw all the bad feed back and at least try to fix some bugs, should of got the ZTE hotspot its much much cheaper and seems to work fine from what other users said..it has 2xCA where the explore is 3xCA..towers around me are overload and i really need 3xCA or speeds would be slow...might try to find another hotspot that has 3xCA with all LTE bands needed for ATT

If you can find the post about the bugs, I'd appreciate a link. I just got one (yeah, I know the Nighthawk is out, but the form factor on the Explore is better for me). My issues are centered around restarts or disabling WiFi when I plug in to charge it. Not sure if it is the battery (got it "new" off eBay), the device, or if it is the firmware. I saw one reference to something like this in another thread.

Also, the device keeps saying no updates (I have the previous firmware) and won't let me check for 24 hours. I've factory reset it numerous times and checked again for firmware and once it downloaded, but got into a reboot loop, so I had to factory reset it and lost the update. Does anyone know how to force the update?

Thanks for any info you can provide me.

have no clue where that post is..soooo i wrote a small thing for u to read to give a idea

restarts not really since the new update- if u plug the explore with USB and cuts off the wifi, thats just a setting that u can change on the device itself..when u plug it in itll ask u if u want to disable wifi...

it does drop wifi at times and it likes to jumps bands alot (not sure if its my area)...the UI will freeze/lock up when data is being used also th UI itself is slow/lags pretty sure thats it but for me its to many issues that hasnt been fix and prob wont be fix..the Nighthawk is made by Netgear which im now finding out that this company is very poor with their devices..even had a router issue that was mad by netgear and paid a lil more for a linksys which works just fine...too bad the mobley wasnt 3xCA or i would of kept that

Thanks for the info. I’m replacing my unit as I think the turning off when charging is not the proper behavior. Hopefully when I get the replacement unit, the firmware update will fix some issues.
