Why people pay more for AT&T

I was having a conversation with a coworker today, and I was trying to google something we were arguing about, and I had a bad signal at that moment and it wouldn’t load. My coworker then asked me what carrier I have? I said cricket, he said that’s your problem, the reason they call it cricket is because their signal jumps all over the place... I said whatever and asked him what carrier he has, and he proudly said AT&T, and I told him do you realize AT&T owns cricket and they run on the exact same network? And he said ********, and that I’m wrong, because there is no way AT&T wants anything do with that Janky cricket. That my friends is the ignorance that makes people choose AT&T. Lol.

They do get better speeds and some more features but it's the same network. Cricket just sounds cheap so people say that

Did you thank your co-worker for paying your excellent jumpy dirty cheap phone service?

It would be interesting to see if your friend phone was also jumpy at the time.

AT&T prepaid 6gb plan has tethering included. That is my reason. If AT&T ever let's MVNO's include tethering I would switch back to Cricket.

To the OP, what specific device are you and coworker using? It's quite possible yours doesn't support all the bands att uses. If yours lacks bands that his doesn't, it's possible for him to have better service.

I have an iPhone 7, we didn’t even compare our signals, he just assumed his service was better than mine.

    Lots of reasons.

ATT prepaid 6GB plan includes hotspot, roll over data, domestic roaming, full throttle download speeds, international texts, Canada/Mexico roaming

If you need these features then the ATT 6GB $45 plan is better than the Cricket 5GB $40 plan.

Wifi calling an VoLTE is the only reason I'm with ATT. When Cricket gets that, I'm bringing two lines over.

Then tell him you can each get a $25 credit if he switches. Now that's making bank!

VoLTEhas been on cricket for a while now. Not all phone support it tho, so check the website for compatibility.

Now WiFi calling hasn’t been added yet. But if you’re not aware, I believe WiFi calling works when you’re in a poor coverage area or low bars or no bars at all. Search AT&T WiFi calling Q&A.

Thats the same reason i switched too. ATT Prepaid and Verizon Prepaid are both great if you need tethering built in. Upgrading my plan for +10 then another +10 to include tethering wasnt feasible in comparison. Other than that i loved cricket, especially the online chat support.

Does this Att $45/6gb include usage in Mexico and Canada ? I mean can you use your phone while in Cancun to call and use data while inside Cancun??

Never mind, just checked Att site, yes $45 included usage in Mex and Canada.
