    Loyalty Method Failed

So the Loyalty method to extend my gUDP contract worked at first — Verizon's system showed my contracts extended and the $29.99 price retained. However, I have since been hit with the price hike, and my iPhones no longer show as being under contract. WTF?

They don't want you on gUDP.
They want you to switch to one of their current of fUDP.
Good intentions will always be pleaded for every assumption of authority. It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters. -- Daniel Webster

That's crazy. Do you know if it showed you under new contracts at any point? Maybe you could play that card with them to try to get back under contract?

It did. I verified it myself, and so did a rep.

Sounds like you have a reason to break the contract and go elsewhere...

LOL. They've been begging everyone on those ancient plans to break their contract by making them almost impossible to renew. There's nothing to break. They want those customers to use a different plan or go elsewhere.

I see you’ve been reading. Welcome to HoFo.

Obviously, the OP’s situation is not ideal. However, now they’re stuck with a one year contract with a $49.99 UDP. With no chance of getting the price reduced. The best they can hope for is that Verizon lets them break their contract and leave or convert to a current UDP offering, while bringing along a contract.

I think you missed a detail the OP mentioned. I'll repeat her post here:

"So the Loyalty method to extend my gUDP contract worked at first — Verizon's system showed my contracts extended and the $29.99 price retained. However, I have since been hit with the price hike, and my iPhones no longer show as being under contract. WTF?"

Pay particular attention to: "my iPhones no longer show as being under contract". That means she doesn't need to run any stupid stunts. Her price is $50 now, and she's free to leave anytime. Essentially, VZW has been eliminating ways to get back under contract. Obviously, they have mostly done that now. But they missed something. So they're ending the contract. She's free to walk, just like she was a month or so ago before she attempted to get back in contract.

    The party is over now.

Looks like Verizon is doing back end system sweeps to close loopholes.

They were more than happy to let me out of my contract so I could migrate my 5 lines to their new unlimited offers.

I suggest you go to the Feb-UDP.
Once you are off contract, and it looks like they won't let you extend, Feb-UDP is the best option.
Unless you are a rural customer with specific needs you will not notice a difference.
Since everyone is getting throttled, including GUDP, it now becomes a moot point to keep GUDP unless there is a very specific need.

Any chance I could ask them to apply a recurring bill credit of $40 to make up for retroactively changing my account without consent?
