I'm not surprised; it seems reasonable to imagine that there are still a number of organizations and individuals out there that would really like to see number portability delayed, and they are probably going to continue to do anything that they can to see that November isn't the month that it finally happens.

Hopefully their efforts will be shrugged off, and as the story suggests, any amendments that would delay WNP will be killed as they are introduced.
As the audio experience is integral to this game,
for maximum enjoyment, headphones or an ideal listening
    environment are highly recommended.

If this is true, then I want my money back I have been paying to set this up. If people are going to keep fighting this then why should we pay for a service that will never happen. Oh and who cares what some Senate guy from Alaska thinks. Most people forget about that state anyway haha.

It's not surprising that Ted Stevens' constitutents would like to see this delayed. Alaska has dozens of small wireless providers, and WNP isn't cheap to implement. It's likely that some of these smaller providers aren't going to meet the Nov. 24 implementation date, and will be subject to penalties.

It'd be more productive to allow an exemption for smaller carriers, with, say, fewer than 20,000 subscribers. This would mean WNP becomes a reality for users of all major carriers, while financially strapped small carriers wouldn't have to make the investment.

This makes perfect sense, and I would not have any problem whatsoever with a temporary exemption (one or two years) for smaller carriers.

does alaska even have one of the top 100 markets required to implement wlnp by nov 24?...seriously, in the markets affected by wlnp, it's all major players anyway...tulsa's on the list, and we have: uscc, att, cingular, sprint, nextel, cricket, and t-mo...not exactly small carriers, eh?

    Keep the Faith,
