    Sharp GX-22 MMS (Locked with SmarTone SP only)??

    This guy is selling the GX-22. He sends the phone directly from HK. I just notice one thing on his page...

    MMS (Locked with SmarTone service provider)

    What does it mean?? Is it mean that all the Chinese Version of GX-22's MMS function is locked?? How can you check it??

    I am planning to buy a phone from Milkboy. So....

    yes this has been confirmed that the mms is locked to smartone.
    along with...

    just ask milkboy... he'll tell tell you that the GPRS functions are locked to smartone.. and that includes wap and mms and adding new java apps... maybe they'll eventually figure a way to unlock it. also i think there is no service provider in canada that provides mms yet...

    that's sad if true..... wap browsing and mms are a minimum, esp for such a high value phone........

    Indeed! GPRS works perfectly well, I don't know what is this rubbish about it being locked. I'd try MMS too but since Rogers doesn't support it ...

    Iagner over in HK has said he's tried it with the different providers there and has had no problems. He even called SmarTone and they confirmed that they did not lock MMS, that you needed to get the settings from your provider.

    I HIGHLY doubt that just MMS is locked and the browser isn't .. and since my browser works (GPRS), i believe my MMS will also

    Now about those java apps .. I am not sure if that is locked or not, there just isn't an app that supports the transfer yet. That doesn't mean it's locked though. I know you can download new apps via WAP, I purchased a game (yes, i was that desperate).

    Let's move on and stop saying locked this and unlocked that! According to the link... it said MMS locked and nothing else. Since we now know its not true....lets not jump into other conclusions about JAVA being locked too! Why the heck would you ask if that is locked or not when you should know that JAVA is dl through WAP.....for this phone? To answer your question I have dl some java apps for my phone and there are java games on my phone too!

    Would you mind sharing some wap sites for these java apps/games please? There's not much availible .. I wonder if the GX-10/10i games are compatible?

    Enough about this locked MMS crap. I am in Hong Kong and I am using another service provider (One2Free) other than SmarTone, and as soon as I changed the setup of the fone, MMS / GPRS works perfectly.

    I would like some freebie downloads (pics, ringtones, java games) tho as I can't seem to find any. The ones for GX10/12 don't seem to be compatible.

    i'm also going toward the unlocked side, as cellular baby in vancouver has started carrying GX-22... so i seriously doubt they would carry a phone that has GPRS and MMS locked... and can anyone provide me more info on loading java on to this phone, is it true that u can only dl java app from wap and not upload java app through cable to the phone??

    yes, the phone is not locked. i can use wap freely.. don't know about mms yet, but i'm sure it works fine....

    where is cellular baby? and how much are they selling them for? do they sell the data cable, i need to pick one up.

    it is a cellular store here in vancouver, just started to partner w/ fido as a dealer, not sure about the price... i already asked my friend dat works there but he hasnt reply me yet...
