Lucky Goldstar is correct.... with a unmarketable English translated name like that, no wonder they go by the abbreviation!

ok thanks everyone. cuz whenever i go downown i see that bg LG thing (it won't come down until 2004!) and i always wondered what it meant.
They use LG as a "reinvented self" for quite a few years now. One of the reasons was because of the poor connotation the "Lucky Goldstar" reputation brought.

Just to add my two cents.
LG is a product of merger between Lucky brand and Goldstar (KumSung in Korean). Goldstar used to focus on applieces and Lucky electronics on more common electronics stuff. I believe they merged about 10 years ago because Goldstar wasn't doing too hot. I know because I used to be a supplier to Goldstar...
Yah, i think that was the case. My dad used to deal with those companies individually. He also used to deal alot with Hyundai Heavy and Daewoo Heavy Industries. They all have alot of diversified businesses. My dad used to deal with their industrial side.Originally posted by k_joman

I remember seeing Lucky Goldstar when was still living in Taiwan 10 yrs ago. and then in Europe I saw LG soon after, was very confused...thought it was a new company but it was just a good branding strategy change (only in English can I put 3 substantives together without anything...can't believe this language).
