If I can get over my indecisiveness, I might get an Altima, Protege 5, Solara, "can't decide", etc... LOL
I drive a 2002 Mazda Protege5 5 Speed, and i love it.
i just recommend that you get some snow tires for the slippery season.
I have a 2002 Protege 5 as well. Just got it 2 weeks ago after my Acura EL got ripped off and stripped.
Lovin' the Mazda. Just needs a few things, like tints etc.
When I look in the mirror in the morning, I gotta answer to me....
I love the styling of the Protege 5, and was in a rush to go test drive one as soon as they came out. It was quick around town to about 30-40mph, but was not really up to the task of highway passing. On the highway, it was considerably slower than the civic HX (both autos).
It handled well, but that's mainly a function of the sticky tires on a small car.
In the end, I had such a hard time from the sales guy who needled me down on the trade and would not budge from sticker that I just left. He was telling me how hard it was to find these cars and that they were flying out the door - while there were 20 of them on his lot and another 17 at a lot 10 miles away.
The sales guy was really a major a$$. He went on about how the Protege was #1 in its class on everything -that seemed to be his default answer. How's the resale value? It's number one in its class! (KBB and real life seemed to disagree with his claim).
In any case, we just kept the Civic and stuck some new wheels and sticky tires on it. I was hoping that they would come out with a Mazdaspeed version of the car with a low-boost turbo, but it doesn't look like that will happen.
Justin B.: I have to agree that the styling is pretty hot on the P5 and similarly on the Mazdaspeed Protege. It always makes my head turn when one passes by. I too am bothered with sales spiels and mission statements. I always want to reply, "So are you going to tell me when the car is #2,3 or 4 in some category or class? Of course you are going to keep saying you are #1 ." But I think that would kill any chance of the salesperson cooking up a good deal
kaka: Congrats on the TL. That is an awesome Luxury car. I think I would have tons of fun playing with all the gadgets it has

Thanks! But ssshhhhh!!! Don't tell anyone it's a luxury car. Here in BC people pay the government extra tax for luxury cars they buy. I wasn't taxed!
The 6-Channel DVD-Audio is superb! Now I just need to find a place to buy DVD-Audio disc.

I would have just taken the salesman as typical if I had not had such a good experience with a Nissan just a few weeks earlier. I had gone in to look at the (then new) Sentra SER SpecV and with trade and discount I could have had that car for $95/month for 48 months.
The Mazda dealer took the Civic and came back with a laundry list of problems with it. The car had 35k miles on it, and had been dealer maintained. Synthetic oil changes every 2500 miles and no abuse at all (my wife's car). They offered below cash value as a trade! Then they wouldn't take a dollar of the sticker price. I was not desperate for a car, but if we had been offered a great deal I would have taken it.
He asked me what it would take for me to buy 'today'. I said I'm not buying today no matter what you offer, but if you can come close to the offer on the Nissan, I'll probably be back Monday to take it.
In any case, if you're in the Boston area avoid IRA Mazda like genital warts. Kelly Honda was a pleasure to deal with (bought the Civic over the phone - beat my best price and didn't try to force anything we didn't want) and Kelly Nissan also treated me honestly. Actually, just avoid IRA completely.

That comes with a Bluetooth HFL also, right? On my new (bought used, thanks da_hool!) T39m, people I talked to didn't think I was driving until I told them.
I don't think I can still afford any modifications for a while. Just the base price of this damn car is already too high for me!
