    Question

I finally got the tone to go onto my phone but nothing plays. The tone was written as a wav...Could that be why? How can I change it to a .mid? When I go to customize and look for .mid at the end I can't find it. Please help! Thanks

first question.. what version of bitpim are u using?

    are you emailin the ringtones?

    what phone?

what version of windows are you using?

these questions will make it a lil easier for me and others to help post an answer.

in general to change the extension of a file from... SONG.MP3 to a .MID file is easy.

make sure your you follow the process listed to be able to change the extension as listed in this thread.

as for ring tones not playing.. there are two answers..

one.. if using bitpim 6.2 for the 6000 you must save the ringer as a mono ringer and in mp3 format. ( see ring tones for dummies just search for it in the threads)

2 if emailing the ring tone it must be under 30k for a 6000. if emailing to a 7000 it can be up to 100k. 30k = 15 secs and the file must be in .MID format and mono.

epappas- save it as mp3 then change the extension to mid if emailing it.. tell me what your using to transfer the ringers to the phone that will help me in explaining how to do it.

I'm using the usb data cable to transfer the songs. You figured it out for me...I was saving it as a .wav instead of an mp3 on the sound forge...I just tried it as an mp3 and its working. I have the songs on my phone...and they're playing words. That's okay right? Not bad for the phone or anything? Thanks a lot. You're a real help...yesterday was so frustrating not being able to get them on!

dabomb.. when emailing... make sure of 2 things.. ONE.. the file size is 30k or less..

2 that the file is a MID and not an MP3.

those should clear up any problems. oh yeah.. and make sure that the mp3 you change to mid is in mono.

Epappas.. glad you got it.. its a good feelin when you figure it out isnt it? feels like IM KING OF THE WORLD!!!!! hahahah glad you got it..

the version of bitpim that you have wont load mp3 to a 6000. why i have no idea. you want to use the version 6.2 that will load mp3s with out having to change the file extension.

if you want to use the version you have you can change the extension and it will play it words and all..the quiality of the file isnt as good as mp3 but its almost the same.

look for the 6.2 version. much easier to use.
