    Ho-oooly .... moly !! 177 mph = 285 km/h !!!
I think the only time I've travelled that speed on ground was when taking off in an airplane. ..
does anyone know for sure at what speed do the comercial flights take off ? I had the idea it was 300 km/h or sommething ...

IIRC, most commercial aircraft lift off at around 150-200 Miles Per Hour. Crusing speed is around 300-500 MPH (Or speed of sound if you're on the Condorde).

It is truly a rush doing 0-200....Once those turbofans kick in...hold on, you're in for a nice ride!

the fastest I drove was in Italy, on my '78 Alfa Romeo Giulietta.
I drove on the "Autostrada del Sole" (Sun Highway) from Rome to Milan at 235 Km/h ... Man ... that was fast...

In Italy speed limit for HWYS is 150 KM/H.
In Germany there is no speed limit.

It's funny, I was once in Bonn (germany) on the City HWY. There are 3 lanes. on the first you are supposed to go around 100-120 Km/h, on the center lane you should go around 145-150 kmh, and on the 3rd lane you see people going up to 220-240 Kmh with their fat BMW series 7 or Mercedel 600SL...

I really miss the real "driving"...Here in Canada, it's not driving. What's the point of having a Boxter if the maz speed is 100Kmh??
I mean, I can go inSecond gear with the Boxter at 95-100 khm...

when i had my bike, i'd wait up until like 4:00am and rip it up and down the dvp (nice and curvy); i once did 235km/h on the 400 (scary as hell on a bike)

the reasons why we should NEVER have higher speed limits in canada is cuz no one know how to drive:

*no one signals, or checks their blindspots anymore
*too many idiots hogging the leftlane--and even WORSE, too many idiots doing right-lane passes to get around these laggards in the left
*i DO NOT believe in banning cell phones while driving since fiddling with the radio causes more accidents than using the phone and aint nobody taking my system away, but peeps should pay more attention to the road while driving (the reason why the germans were so slow in putting cupholders in their cars was cuz they were weary of peeps feeding their fat faces while driving)
*too many people (mostly younger guys) driving cars that frankly they do not have the skills to drive

    Damn the metric system!

Anyway, I hit 80 or so MILES per hour on a curved suburban road. The curve made it extra hard to hold on to the road and it was way cool

i still signal 95% of the time. i like to let ppl know i'm changing lanes. times when i don't signal is when it is expected i'm turn to left or right. i also always check my blindspot. i either do a shoulder check, listen for cars to my left side, or just look at my side rearview mirrors which are set very far out that cover everything behind me up until i can see something in my peripheral vision. i don't check my blindspots if i know i passed someone or an island and it is expected no one will be there...

i REALLY REALLY left lane hoggers. i don't know why, but i just saw some taxi driver tonight, picking up my pohpoh (grandma) from dry swimming, automatically turning into the left lane where he could have just driven straight in the lane he just merged into and passed the van. i admit i switch to the left lane, but i drive fast enough so that i don't block ppl behind me though and then get back into the right lane. i also switch to the left lane, cuz i know up ahead, there is mighty deadly potholes, holes, or uneven roads.

    - i'm young too, and i think i'm cocky too when i drive. though i do think i have the potential to have the skills at driving. LOL. *man i'm tired* i so wanna go to a BMW Driver Training course and do all 3 levels. if i do, next up with be the Skip Barber...

anyway, i did propose something along the lines of increasing the speed limit to the MOT minister. i suggested something like an autobahn to be built, but to limit the retarded drivers, it would require a special licence. probably more stricter than the avg G licence. pay a membership fee to cover the costs (maybe?) and have police patrolled in a special right or left lane for only their use. zero tolerance for driving and driving, and left lane hoggin...but the response i got was...it'd cost too much $$$. so it is possible if there is enough $$$. hehe.

Why not? They are legal here in western Canada. I thought most everywhere in Canada they were legal.

The fastest I've driven was in northern German, just south of Denmark. I hit 190 km/h in 5th gear of my rental Opel Vectra. I didn't want to use 6th because I didn't want to go any faster.
