    fido coverage in markham

I wonder what the coverage is like in Markham. I am planning on spending summer in Markham. I am currently a Cingular customer in North Carolina.

    Thanks for any info.

If you are comparing strictly GSM... in Markham Fido does have some dead spots, but the coverage would be much better than Rogers GSM. For some reason Rogers is great outside but once you enter a building Fido gives me more signal. This is on the same unlocked phone.

If you are more specific about where in Markham, people may give you a better idea.

Thanks for the info. Let's see, I remember seeing a Go Train station and an LCBO shop not far from where I will be staying. Does that help in terms of being specific as to the location?

p.s. Also I am thinking about getting the free 3390 offer. Any advice?

Train station and LCBO? Would that be just North of Hwy 7. and Markham road? (i have a friend that lives in the area). Close to a Shell station, right?

Well I don't recall any specific details about reception there but if you look at Steve Punter's cell tower maps, you'll see Microcell has one right there.

So I would assume coverage is pretty decent.

Well, now I am in Markam and I did purchase the 3390. Coverage here is pretty good. I am close to 16th Ave/Fincham Ave. Down in Scarborough, the coverage is okay, too. I bought it at the Future Shop in Markham and the sales rep was very nice. She even "warned" me that the coverage indoors is not very good. It indeed is not spectacular but I don't think I missed any calls yet.

    Thanks for all the information.

In general indoor coverage in Markham isn't very good with anybody unless you are talking anologue.

Coverage seems to vary. There are a few places that Fido has indoor coverage that no other provider has. Then there are places that the others will cover and Fido will give you no service.

You really need to try it out for your self. At my friend's place (east of McCowan near Denison), Fido is really bad. Outdoor is no problem but in the house it's unuseable.
