Interesting. I've found that I prefer MP3 ringtones...I downloaded some MIDIs from my favorite games, but most of them sound goofy on the phone (certain instruments too loud, etc.). I've yet to find a simple way to edit that kind of thing. Same thing goes for editing the length.

So, I've been taking audio files and editing them in Final Cut Pro (I know it's overkill, but it's what I know how to use)...I can cut sections of songs out, blend the cuts, shorten the audio to a perfect 22 seconds, and even fade it out at the end.

Then I encode the MP3s with iTunes LAME Encoder from AIFFs exported from Final Cut. The results are really pretty good! Incidentally, if anyone wants some edited Slider ringers from Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy VI (and a few others), let me know.

Oh, and for those of you with Virgin Mobile (like me), you *can* put more than 10 files in the "dnld" folder, and they will all show up in "Ringtones" and be usable. The only thing is that only the 10 most recent files will appear in "My Ringtones," but that really doesn't matter.

I'm also using Photoshop for the BMPs, I don't really know how many Mac programs can export those otherwise...

Does anyone know how to replace screen savers? And what format are the animated ones?

Is it limited to only 4 frames?

Wallpapers ONLY limited to BMP so far? Or is there possibility of GIF and JPEG as long as they meet the dpi and color depth requirements?

    One last question.

I'm looking for a midi editor. Can anyone recommend a program for that? I can handle the search.

    Thanks in advance.

As far as I have been able to find, no one knows how to make a screensaver for this thing, animated or otherwise. Then again, does anyone actually use the screensavers? They seem rather a waste of battery juice to me, especially since you can't really see them with the backlight off anyway...I was initially miffed that mine came with such crap screensavers, but then I realized how useless they are to me, and it doesn't bother me anymore...

Yes, backgrounds are limited to BMP only. This really shouldn't be a problem, since you can convert GIFs and JPEGs anyway...though of course it's one more step.

I too would be interested in a simple MIDI editor...QuickTime lets you cut and paste bits pretty easily, but it's pretty hit-and-miss. I did try importing some MIDIs into Sibelius to edit them that way, but it turned out to be much more of a nuisance than I had thought it would be...which is why I went with MP3s...

So, any suggestions on a MIDI editor (preferably for Mac)?

I was able to drop .png files onto my phone with extension and all and had no problem setting them to my background.

There are a couple kinds of VX6000 cables... does yours have a black box in between the ends somewhere? The one that works with the Slider needs this.

Yeah, I think the Kyocera drivers are going to be necessary.

You didn't say what "the page" was, but if it wasn't the Kyocera web site then I'd try to grab those. I use them with an OEM Kyocera cable though... not sure what would happen if you tried them with an original VX6000 cable.

    You can try this page:

    http://www.kyocera-wireless.com/downloads/downloads.htm

Someone will have to give the part number for the SE47 though... I don't have it handy. Better yet, go to the accessories page and they should have the cable's part number there.

Smile Can upload ringers and wallpapers on Verizon

I just got my cable today and thanks to reading the info in these forums I was able to what I wanted to do with it so far...

I got my cable from E-Bay for about $15 after s/h
    ebay
It came with a disc with the drivers on it.

I used bitpim 7.15 with my slider SE47-Verizon
I couldn't use the bitpim 6 with my Verizon only my Virgin Mobilr Slider
    with bitpim 7.15

I had to change my Com Speed to 115.2 kbps by:
    Settings/Accessories/Com Speed

    for ringers
    user/sound/ringer
    midi and mp3 worked

    for wallpaper
    user/mypictures
format: PNG would work but I couldn't get BMP to work

I'm willing to use my virgin mobile slider to experment with changing the "slidesnd", "predef", or "default" sounds but I think I'm gonna need some help with what I should do.

I really want to change/add to the "slidesnd" because I want to have those sounds that the phones make on the Matrix (Sounds like a gun loading).
