Responsible for creating user interface wire frames, mock ups and graphics for mobile devices. The Mobile Interface Designer works in Ofoto’s UI Design & Usability group, and is responsible for translating product requirements into user interface mock-ups of mobile software interfaces and WAP sites. The Mobile Interface Designer works closely with Ofoto’s UI Design & Usability Manager, UI Architect, Software Engineers, Product Managers, and Product Marketing Managers.
Must be able to execute in a fast-paced environment. You'll need at least 2-3 years of work experience with proven software interface design expertise, and at least 1-year experience focused in designing software for small screens. It's a definite plus if you've performed a similar role at a mobile operator or device manufacturer, and are passionate about digital photography.
Translate user flows, product and functional requirements into user interface mock-ups and prototypes. Work with the UI Design & Usability Manager, UI Architect, Software Engineers, Product Managers and Product Marketing Managers on translating requirements into mobile software and WAP user interfaces. Work closely with Software Engineers and Quality Assurance to assure mock ups are being translated correctly into mobile device software. Work with UI Design & Usability Manager to prepare prototypes for usability testing, in addition to assisting with tests.
Candidates will need at least 2-3 years of work experience with proven software interface design expertise. At least 1 year must be focused on software design for small screens. A Bachelor’s in Human Factors, Industrial Design or related field is a definite plus. A strong sense of innovation, out of the box thinking skills, and experience in transforming product requirements into easy to use mobile user interfaces is a must. In addition this role requires:
· Extensive experience with mobile device user interfaces and understanding constraints of UI design for small screens.
· Knowledge of common mobile phone platforms and design needs for each.
· Knowledge of WAP standards and designs needs.
· Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator.
· Knowledge of HTML and Flash a plus.
· Ability to design for multiple mobile devices, especially mobile phones.
· Familiar with usability issues and standards in mobile device software design.
· A strong portfolio, including URL's or screen shots of recent UI work, is required.
· Excellent communication and teamwork skills
