I've noticed that a lot of sites get the inside scoop on new phones by monitoring the FCC site. And it seems like shortly after (< 3months) they show up on the FCC site, the phones are released.
Here's my question... the Treo 270 was already posted on the FCC site for the GSM version and also released to the public. Will Handspring have to resubmit to the FCC when they come out with the CDMA version of the Treo 270?
Does anyone know when we can expect to see this phone?
I believe it has already been submitted to the FCC, Handspring already talks about it on its web site. I believe it is suppose to be the Treo 280 or 290 (there was also a CNET article not to long ago).
Mobile Phone service provider: Sprint PCS
Sprint mobile phone plans are currently not compatible with the Treo 270 communicator. Handspring has announced plans to develop a Treo communicator that runs on Sprint's network. We expect this product to be available by Summer 2002.
Yes, it will require a new FCC approval. The Treo 270 FCC grant only covers the "250KGXW" Emission Designator, which is GSM. The CDMA Emission Designator is "1M25F9W".
And yes, it will have a different number - not "270". 280 or 290 is a reasonable guess.

Thanks for the reply. One last question.. Is it possible that Handspring learned their lesson and will somehow have the FCC suppress the public posting on the FCC website so we don't see it?
