    S100 group buy!

I saw somebody mention this, and I think it might be a good idea. If we could all buy the phone from the same company organized as a group, we may be able to get a discount for the group and save money on shipping. I also noticed that one person said that the s100 was on sale at http://www.meisl.de/ for 480 € + shipping. Now, the Web page says 552 €! What price is correct? Let us assume that it is the 480 € price. We need to know how many would be interested in at least finding out what the prices would be for shipping many of the S100's. If the discount is high enough and shipping per additional phone is not too much, then it would be quite feasible to ship the phones all to one person and then have that person ship the phones out individually; we would all then split the costs evenly.

So who would be willing to check about this (i.e., who speaks German), and who would like to see about taking part in this?
    My Plan:
Simple Choice Unlimited Talk + Text + Web
    Line 1: Unlimited 4G Data + 500 MB HotSpot
    Line 2: 2.5 GB 4G data/HotSpot

That's right the price is 552 €! But all of us who lives outside of EU does not have to pay EU VAT (Value added Tax). Therefore, as VAT is 16% in Germany it has to be deducted from the price -
so we would get roughly 480 € .

Shipping is roughly 20 € to North America. I do not know the markup for this phone, and I do know that the demand is quite high. Thus, we probably can't get a CRAZY discount. However, if we bought as a group, say, 20, of them, at the normal price it would be 9,600 €. I am sure that the company woudl appreciate this kind of at-once revenues at least some. If shipping for one phone is 20 €, perhaps it is just 5 or 10 € for each additional phone to the same address. Then the range of shipping prices for 20 phones would be from 115 € to 210 €. However, if we then send each phone out for roughly 10 € to the second destination, the range of shipping is 305 € to 390 €, since one phone would not need to be sent again. The shipping would have been individually 20 € each for 20 phones, or 400 € total. Thus, shipping is roughly the same. However, the discount really comes from buying in bulk. If we can get a large discount from the dealer for buying 20 phones at once, we can save a lot. Perhaps we can get the phones for 400 € or 430 €. I do not know; we would need to contact potential dealers! At 400 € per phone, 20 phones would cost 8,000 €. Adding in shipping, the total price would be 8,305 € to 8,390 €, or 415 € to 420 € each, including shipping.

That would be a savings of 80 € or so per person.

    what about customs?
If you buy a product for yourself than you will not be taxed as much. However, when you ship more then one of the same product at a time it is considered as a commertial delivery and do you know that the EU and North America does not have a duty free trade agreements like Canada and U.S. So, perphaps it would be possible to get discount smth like 80 Euro, but i do not believe that U.S. or Canadian customs will let the products through without any additional charges. Moreover, you would need to pay a customs broker (US$125 per shipment).

That's a very good point. Perhaps we can find out what the maximum value is that can be shipping duty free?

it will is not about value as much but as about quantity.

For e.g. you will not need to pay duty on One Motorolla L7389 phone, but if you ship three of them most likely you would need to pay taxes eventhough the value will be less then one Samsung SGH-S100 phone.

I am sure that there is some maximum number though that you are allowed to import yourself. We may still be able to get the discount with the company by organizing it all and filing separately.
