you probably purchased service cable instead of a data cable. a data cable can be converted to a service cable, but not vice versa. as far as i know the only prog out right now is edit tool.

there is another transfer program by mobile action, but you have to purchase their data cable (which is USB). While it does sync with outlook and the like it does not allow you to load MFM ringtones....pros and cons, pros and cons...but nothing that will allow you to use your datacable

    again, real short this time----NO.
you have a service mode cable...that is why it works with the service mode tools such as cb2000, crack2d and others. You want to do phone sync stuff, you need a data cable.

it is not easy to do, and unless you are experienced in wireworks with a solder iron, I would not attempt it. It is a lot easier to just buy a data cable! Yes someone did convert there cable, I posted their instructions that they emailed me, but I bought 2 data cables and converted one to a service mode cable to keep things simple.

get a part number! Just to be sure. But from what you put, it sounds like the right kind of data cable....but just 'cause someone says that it is, does not make it so....
Also, as far as I know, all USB data cables should work...but mine are both serial
