Just got a 3620 (and just joined this forum) Following some suggestions on this forum, that one can never have enough memory, I'd like to get a 512 card, but ouch, they are expensive. Froogle wasn't much help at all.
Would appreciate if you could point me in the right (and least expensive) direction, to buy a 512 MMC.
Also, though it might be the wrong thread, what software do you consider a must-have or a very-nice-to-have?
Is there a way to make the phone ring louder?
Thanks
The only 512 MB MMC I know of is made by TEC. Try Amazon or eBay for such a card since it seems that almost no mainstream retailers carry this brand. You might have to look around for a bargain. The search I did came up with all German sites and those prices were in €.
As for making your phone ring louder, try setting the ringer volume to its highest setting under Menu --> Profiles --> Choose the profile you want to adjust (normally General) --> Personalize and scroll to Ringer Volume.
Enjoy

any phone works with any mmc
dont matter the size or brand.
the only people that have problems with this is when you get a call or text while formating *but same true with any mmc*
or they get a defective MMC right out of the box *it happens time to time*
i can get any size up to 1gig... doubt you will find any better price then what i get
Originally posted by C_H_A I might be an idiot but I could've swore that my 128MB SD (yes, SD. Not MMC) card worked in my Nokia 3650.
It DID NOT fit the way the original did, i.e. the metal sliding tab would not slide over the card but it was still recognized & worked properly.
Maybe it was a fluke or maybe I was mistaken.
I'll check the brand when I get it.
I looked into the SD spec versus MMC and it is possible -- THOUGH I HAVEN'T DONE IT. SD is designed to work in the narrow 1-bit mode of MMC as well. You can check the docs:
The physical size of SD is usually too thick (2.1mm versus 1.4mm). For the phone (3650 etc) I have no idea if you can get a 2.1mm card to physically fit in there. Then again there is such a thing as Thin (1.4mm) SD Card if you read the later pages of that pdf.
Edited to say that I found a 2.1mm SD spacer in a Treo 600 and it won't really fit in the 3650 properly. The pin alignment looks ok but it's too thick. I haven't had any luck finding a 1.4mm thin SD card either (not mini-SD because that's different).
I just found a Panasonic 16MB SD card and I tried it but couldn't get it working. It is 2.1mm and so it won't fit into the connector properly enough for the pins to touch. I'd need to shave some plastic somewhere. Whereas the MMC pins are surface flush, the SD card's pins are inset, which I believe prevented the connection. It's not worth it.
