    Sears Cellular?????

So... I heard awhile back that Sear was going to start a cellular service.

Well, it's official now, as my mommy received an offer in her bill. So, I call them and they have a contract with Rogers Wireless to use their network. They use Rogers towers, but the logo on the phone and screen is Sears. Their official name is Sears Connect. 1-866-669-3663. I couldn't believe it. Web site and all.

Here's the kicker... No GSM. I asked the guy if they're using GSM and he says no. The phone on the flyer was a Nokia 2220.

    Anybody hear about this before?
Maybe I let this one slip under my radar. Ouch, if so.
I'm not saying he's kinky, but Nadir Mohamed let me rub one out on his face.

    You wanna touch it?

I get an ad for this with every sears bill.

They have an awesome landline LD plan too: 9˘/min anywhere in NA with NO SAF.

SearsConnect used to resell cityfone, but now they've switched to reselling Rogers TDMA with the 2220 as their flagship phone.

They're selling both Cityfone GSM and Rogers TDMA, so choose depending on your need

I think its basicly a rogers plan being billed to your sears card. I bet you we could still access their accounts from SC etc...

    It's a Rogers TDMA/AMPS map.

WTF, no urban coverage??? is that a typo? What would be the point of that.... anyway......

I've tried SearsConnect before I jumped on rogers. They are using Cityfone. Cityfone itself uses both Microcell and Rogers now. SearsConnect is nothing by itself.

Cityfone is the one which upgraded from just using FIDO to have better coverage for the customers.

    www.cityfone.net should have info..

I got my hands on a bill today... It says Sears Connect and has nothing to do with Rogers (except for use of the towers). I then called Rogers and asked if the customer switch from Sears Connect to Rogers Wireless could they keep their number? They said no. The only thing they share are towers. Can any CSR try to find out more? I know it's not really a big deal, but I can't get any inside guys to give me more info other than it's a seperate billing department and customer service.
Does anyone think it would be considered a spin converting a Sears Connect customer? HAHA! Or, do you think we can request conversion credits for the customer I know if it's for the right amount of lines, you can still get conert credits for Telus and Bell, and any amonut of Fido lines.

maybe rogers is going to sell the TDMA network to cityfone rather than dismantle it eventually.
