What you guys are no realizing it had NOTHING to do with ATTWS. Think about it... ATTWS provides you AIRTIME not the phone ATT did not make the phone.. SONY ERICSSON DID. They were the ones who send out the letters in response to the replacements of the T68's and so forth NOT ATTWS. Sony and Nokia took the responsibilty to upgrade devices that were not supported by the 850 that ATTWS rolled out recently to most areas and soon to be all areas. Why do you think the number to call was Sony Ericsson

Not easily. Long story short, I called SE Rebate Center almost every week for 2 months.
Here's the long version. Due to my ignorance with the phone market, I thought T226 was a true upgrade to T68i and returned T68i promptly. After realizing lack of 900/1800 MHz band and Bluetooth (I have a couple of Bluetooth accessories and a Bluetooth equipped Mac), I called SE Rebate Center to get T68i back.
They put in a request to return T68i, and about a month later, I was told I probably won't get T68i back because they are usually sent to recycling center immediately. After begging and begging, one lady agreed put in a request for T616 no string's attached.
Well, I've been told to expect a T616 in two to four weeks.
It's supposedly still being processed. I'll see if it actually shows up.
This is after being told to wait two weeks and check in again, after calling in to correct the error of being sent a second T226.
This is definitely not an easy thing to do and you end up being a pest having to call them all the time. My case file must be huge.
For me it's been a trying year with the T68i. It took more than 6 months and 4 return trips to their repair center at my expense to finally get them to correct a problem with the phone. And even then I had to plead with them to send me another phone.
I probably would've been better off buying another phone, but I really enjoyed the Bluetooth capabilities of it, which I found to be superior to my T39. Better range, less static, et al.
So I'm going to remain skeptical until I see the package from SE containing the T616.
I was approved for free T616 (no strings attached) on April 23 but have yet to receive the phone.
I called SE Rebate Center just now and supposedly, the request is heavily backed up. The lady told me I should receive the phone within the next 2 weeks via UPS. She recommended that I keep T226 as a backup phone.
I think that SE (and ATTWS/Cingular) are trying to clear out the T616s to make way for the T637 which is about ready to be released. If they drag things out much longer they may just run out, in which case you might hit them up for a T637 which is supposedly a replacement for the T616.
I am in the process of returning my ATTWS T616 as it suffers from the "flutter" problem too much.
I called Sony Ericsson Rebate Center on April 23 to request T616. After 2 months (June 24), Sony finally shipped my phone. I will believe it when I see it, but FINALLY!

That's great news. I called on April 23rd, and then again about 2 weeks ago, but they hadn't shipped yet. How were you notified they shipped? Did you call them to check the status?

Yeah I called. I originally called to change the shipping address, but was told that it shipped out last Thursday.

My phones came in yesterday as well. Sony Ericsson has made me a very happy customer. Even though it took 2 months, they really had no obligation to send any phones at all.
I, too, finally recieved a T616 today.
Nice little phone, but I'm looking to get a K700 in the next few months. So I doubt I'll use it.
This ends my chapter as an AT&T customer, sad to say.
