    911 Calls Appearing?

Good grief, here is what I saw on my unbilled call listings. I hope this is an error, as I know I never dialed 911 even in error. The last thing I need are the LEA's at my door over this. Has this happened to anyone before?

From time to time my detailed activity shows emergency 911 calls too, even though I never consciously recall dialing it, and my phone is ALWAYS locked when it's not in use. Hmm.

I just noticed this same problem on my bill. Three emergency calls are listed. One of the 911 calls listed is 18 minutes long. I checked my recent calls and it appears to have been when I called the cable company. Also, I noticed a few other calls in my recent calls that are not showing up on my recent call activity (all made within my metro area).

Anyone else notice weird things such as this when checking out your call activity?

I've just noticed a random 911 call on my recent activity page with T-mobile. I didn't call it and it doesn't show up in my outgoing calls list. Weird...

    Exclamation Wow!

I've seen this weird stuff before a year and a half ago. BUT it was for 411 (information) and I was baffled. It was eating into my minutes too!!!!

It was like that for months then it stopped. I did call 611 many time to complain and they said they would investigate.

Whatever it was, I'm glad it got fixed.

    Listen:

There's a T-Mobile customer who's at work minding his business. His phone has been sitting on his desk untouched for the last 3 hours as he does his work. His phone rings from a blocked or unknown number. Turns out it's a call form 911 dispatch. Apparently he just called 911 and hung up. He assures 911 dispatch that he never called 911, his phone has been sitting untouched on his desk for last few hours and they both hang up.

Two or three days later he gets another call. This time it's a supervisor at 911 dispatch. They tell him, in no uncertain terms, that if he continues to call 911 and hang up, they will find out who he is and where he is and have him arrested. They ignore his arguments that he's never called 911 and hang up with ominous threats of legal action.

The customer reviews his unbilled usage online at T-Mobile.com. Find nothing. Calls into T-Mobile Customer Care. The representative searches through his call records, can find no instance of 911 being called so transfers the call to Tech Support. Tech support also reviews the call records and can find nothing out of the ordinary. Assures the customer "a ticket will be filed" (whatever that means) and to call back if it happens again.

This was about a week ago. He hasn't gotten another call from 911 or T-Mobile. Pretty strange, isn't it?

I haven't had that happen to me yet. My phone was in a friend's pocket a few years ago and dialed 911, but that's about it.

And how can the 911 operators call you back? Unless your local 911 dispatch center has E911 equipment, I was told they just get the customer care number for your carrier if you call from a wireless phone.

    Very interesting...

Thank you all. I had several more come through, and they usually occur shortly after I call a TMO user, 611 or voicemail. Infact two overlapped a call to a friend. When I called T-Mobile, I was told in the most coldest, rudest possible fashion that they could not assist, until it was "hard printed".

I was a little nervous, I thought it was a federal crime to call 911 and hang up, like a joke. especially since I had so very many calls within such a short period. I was worried about fraud or legal woes. The last thing I needed was to have legal issues with American Law Enforcement Officials over this. She did note on my acct "Customer called in to report several 911 calls appeared on his unbilled calls. Advised customer to call back after bill was printed to investigate these calls."

Here's what my online March statement shows:

    3/23/04 Emergency 6:41 PM 911 (H) 3 - - -
    3/23/04 Emergency 8:25 PM 911 (H) 3 - - -
    3/23/04 Emergency 8:28 PM 911 (H) 1 - - -
    3/23/04 Emergency 8:29 PM 911 (H) 1 - - -
    3/23/04 Emergency 8:30 PM 911 (H) 1 - - -
    3/23/04 Emergency 8:35 PM 911 (H) 1 - - -
    3/23/04 Emergency 9:05 PM 911 (H) 1 - - -
    3/23/04 Emergency 9:06 PM 911 (H) 1 - - -
    3/23/04 Emergency 9:09 PM 911 (H) 1 - - -
    3/23/04 Emergency 9:12 PM 911 (H) 1 - - -

    Lightbulb 911

    1) 911 is local law enforcement not Ferderal

    2) I think 911 calls will get the exact phone number BUT obviously your location is a mystery UNLESS you are calling from a local area that has activated E911.

    3) It is important to document all of this for future reference. Make sure you get the Customer Service Rep ID number!!!! Not the date and times you've called to complain.

    4) Have you tried using the SIM Card in another phone??????

I had a 3390.. fell asleep with it in my pocket and even thought I had locked the keys it called 911.. hung up.. got a call back from 911 waking me up asking if I had an emergency!

The 3390 was weird though.. after that incident there were several times I'd pull it out of my pocket and it'd have random numbers on it.. even though the keys were locked and when I cleared the numbers it'd go back to being locked..
