Yeah, i would consider doing it myself if i knew how...
I've never soldered a thing in my life and i don't even know how to use a soldering iron...i wouldn't know where to begin...
Like i wouldn't want to kill my phone if you know what i mean...

Are the LEDs just the regular standard cell phone LEDs that go into Nokias and others?
Where did you buy your LEDs from anyways?...that's pretty cheap for LEDs...

I did check out www.e-soughtafter.com, but they seem kinda expensive though...so i'm just going to get my parts from overseas which will definitely be cheaper...
The person that runs e-soughtafter.com also gets her parts from there too...

The casing and parts are exactly the same and fit the overseas model of this phone anyways (v3688/v3688+/v3690)...
Finding and/or getting parts for the v3682 elsewhere shouldn't be a problem...

As for the LEDs, i did hear the same thing about the voltage being different, but i just wanted to confirm...
Didn't want to buy the LEDs and find out that they wouldn't work or would burn out the phone....

    Thanks for the help jOnb...Cheers!

That's the problem with the V8162. Those 4 buttons were tailored for the NA market for Wireless web use. Most aftermarket case makers go for the GSM phones. no matter. I modded my V8162 just fine by "melding" the original housing with the new one.

BTW, I got the toolkit... AFTER I modded my phone. That tool kit will really protect your phone from getting screwdriver dings or scuffs, really nice.

The hardest things about changing the case are removing the top flip from the bottom flip (still haven't figured out a good way to do that) and removing the status indicator lens which locks the two casings together. The toolkit comes with a part JUST for removing the lens which is good.

Anyway this is the end result

You can be absolutely certain that anyone who tells you to "keep an open mind" about a topic, will themselves have a closed mind about that topic.

Actually, to be honest, the sites like www.e-soughtafter.com and www.gsmsquare.com overcharge you for the product rather than the shipping...
I know that GSMSquare charges a flat shipping rate of like $3.40 no matter what you buy...and E-SoughtAfter charges the US shipping costs (different for each product) + $1...however, they ship by regular mail, so it does become slow...

So actually, i think the shipping is resonable, but they screw you on the products they sell by overcharing by a lot...if you buy products direct from asia, then you are saving yourself a lot of money cause hey, they are getting their products from there anywayz...i estimate that for aftermarket parts...you will at least save yourself 50% or more of what you would normally pay...

The quality of the products that you see on those web sites are essentially all the same...they all get their products from asia, and those products are naturally all made in China anywayz...so you get the picture...those products that you buy in asia are not inferior in any way from those on the web sites...just that they are charging you an arm and a leg for cheap parts that they can buy for a fraction of the price that you would normally pay...we are smarter than that...we don't need to buy from them...hehe

    BTW, Vee8162...nice phone...

    Asian sites?...hardly....
If you have any friends/family/relatives that are travelling back to asia then just ask them to have a look for you...you can almost find these parts at any cell phone shops because most of them do cell modding...
In asain though...you need to buy the v3688/v3688+/v3690 casings since they won't have the v3682 causes because they probably never heard of the v3682...either one of those model casings will fit the v3682 i believe...
Like i said...you will save yourself money if you do it this way, rather than buying online...since they tend to have large profit margins...

    Actually...
I just talked with my sources and they said that they can get me parts for real cheap in China...
Basically the housing can be bought for half the price they sell on those websites...its horrible how much profit they really make by ripping us off...the housings should be around $10usd and the flashing MOTO antennas are $6usd a piece...(this is for the v3682 only, i don't know about other motorola mods for other phones...)...however, only thing is that they don't really sell the tool kit, which isn't too much of a problem...

Just thought i would let you know what the prices are people...Cheers

    Hmmm....
    I got a question...
Does anyone konw what kind of LEDs does the Motorola v3682 use? Is it just the standard 0603 LEDs or are they different?...
I heard that the voltage is different but can anyone give me a firm answer?
    Thanx~

    Talking Wow Vee8162

    Vee8162

Holy crap your V8162 looks sick good. Can you provide more details on how you modified the V3682 to fit your phone? I am actually thinking of getting the V3682 to V66 conversion case and trying to modify it for my V8162. Can you post more pics and stuff?
