Does anybody know if I can take the black bezzel part from the v525 from cnn.cn (http://www.cnn.cn/motorola/v500rubberyblack02.jpg) and put it into a regular black faceplate from ebay. I don't like the rubbery material....

make sure the earpiece is making good contact with the contact pad. if its too much play, put a very small piece of foam tape in behind the contact to push it against the speaker more firmly, not too much pressure, u dont want to bend the speaker pins too much.
wow thanks a bunch for the install instructions....it still took me a long A** time to install it....it took me like 3 hours....mainly because the torque set i bought was junk and it kept stripping out the screws....but then once i got it all screwed ona nd all put together i realized i left the black ruber peice that goes in between the little outside LCD screen and the netal cover....i wanted to throw my phone out the window. i bought my housing from daydeal.com....they sent me the wrong case but i like the one they sent me better....and i got a little chrome antenna stub thing instead of having a nice case with an ugly old antenna....if i can find my digi cam i will take a few pics to show you guys. oh word of advice....do not buy the "16 piece Tool kit" from daydeal.....it will ruin all of your screws and stuff.....
Hey, just got a full OEM housing for my V400 (off of Ebay) and I ran into the same problem with the earpiece when I tried installing it. I get no sound out of it because the orange tape strip isnt connecting with the earpiece. I can clearly see where the contacts on the orange strip are and where they are on the earpiece, but I can seem to make em stay together. It's probably cause I wasn't paying enough attention when I removed that part of the phone to put it in the new housing. I was hoping someone might have a picture of how the inside of a V400 flip part should look when properly installed. I also found this little black rubbery part with 2 grey stripes going down it so I'm assuming this has to do with it. I'll try to get a picture of the earpiece part but it'll be hard considering my V400 was my only camera :-( Any help is greatly appreciated.
their should be a little rubber piece with some metal on it or something....you will want that on top of the speaker...it fits right on it and it creates contact between the two. hope that kinda helped you out a little bit....let me know
THANKS! that's exactly what I wanted to know. I didn't have a magnifying glass so I couldn't really see the material in that small strip in the rubber thingy but I'll try that suggestion and see if it fixes it. By the way, I got the V400 OEM housing from this EBay seller, http://gsm4world.com/
I just completed my rescue project from a broken V400 someone just gave to me where they broke the flip off the phone and severed the ribbon cable. After I found out the cable was only 10 bucks on e bay I figured that I'd get a new housing and slap that beotch together...
Well, it worked but I made a few errors. The worst of which was this... DON'T PUT THE WRONG SCREWS INTO THE FLIP!!
haha I did and now I got two little dimples on the outside of my brand new faceplate
All in all, this was a pretty easy thing. For 30 bucks, I got a brand new V400. I slapped my sim card into it and now i'm using this one instead.
