I lost some of the plugs that cover the screw holes and haven't been able to find just those on e bay. Does anyone know where I can just get the screw hole covers??

I think that the camera images are a lot better in this phone from my other one. Is there any way to tell if the Triplets in this phone are older or newer than the other Triplets?? Because I'm wondering if this make a difference in image quality. If it makes any difference, the camera Iris on the salvaged phone is red and the other one is just black.. If anyone knows let me know
Would a V300 be able to fit into a V303/V400/V500/V525 housing

edit: OK my buddy has a V400 and I guess the aftermarket keypads have the call and hang-up/power buttons switched...that's pretty lame.

No it won't...I just spent 3 hours putting it in, and everything fits fine, but the keys don't line up, only a couple of the numbers do. I f--ked the ribbon up super bad but it was still intact and the screen still works fine and stuff. Only took me about 30 minutes to take it apart again and put the OEM housing back on. Oh and whoever sold it to me on eBay, I let them have it, BAD. I was pissed.
This might be a stupid question, but couldn't you have looked at the differences on the auction page and just assumed that they would be incompatable? Because if that's the case, it really wasn't the seller's fault. I know how frustrating it can be, but designs change. Wouldn't you be pissed if you spent a butt load of money for a v551 only to find out that the only difference was bluetooth from the v400?
Not really...I've seen aftermarket housings or covers that have different keypads, but they still work, yah know? Like they don't look exactly the same shapewise, but they still line up. These didn't line up at all, and there was no way for me to look at the top of the keypad and know that on the button, the little knobs wouldn't line up right. So they shouldn't say it fits a V551 if it doesn't...it's like TireRack who says they personally test all wheels on a vehicle before they claim they fit...no they don't. I've looked at some wheels on certain vehicles I'm very familiar on and the lug pattern might be the same but the offsets are completely wrong. I e-mailed them and told them to change their auction title b/c that housing kit won't work w/ a V551. Everything fit up great except for the keypad, and the keypad skeleton (that goes around the keypad) wouldn't work w/ the OEM keypad. I could always do some cutting but I don't feel like it.
You do make a valid point there. And if they were selling it under false representation, you can take your beef to e bay and they might give you your money back. I did that with amazon, and they gave me back every penny. Try it.
Yeah that's true, and they sell a s--tload of housings on ebay...all say V400, V505, V551, and another model. Btw do u know where I can get some extra T6 screws, the ones that go in the back of the housing? 2 of mine stripped out, so I'm holding the back piece on w/ 2/4 screws. And do u know where I can get an actual V551 housing?

edit: Oh and how bad does the ribbon need to be butchered to quit working? B/c when I was putting the new housing on and connecting the flip parts together, I didn't get the ribbon in the middle and it crushed it pretty bad, the layers were coming apart in spots. But it still works fine. So I dunno.
You stripped them out? hmm..I know when i modded my v400 I put the wrong screws in the flip and they started to poke through before i caught it
now i have little dimples on my faceplate

I got my OEM housings on E bay. Other than that, I don't think there are any other places to my knowledge. As far as the t6's go, I know my local hardware store has them. Don't know about where you live. I would think that any specialty electronics store (maybe even radio shack) could have them or possibly even get them for you. I'm looking for the screw hole plugs for my v400. I could have sworn I put them in the same drawer, but most of them are gone. Know where I could find them?
After I stripped them out I got the smart idea to put duct tape on the screwdriver and had no problems. The problem was that the new housing where the screws went in was really tight, so they wouldn't go in and w/ the little screwdriver, I stripped them. They were the right ones tho. That sux I can't get a new cover. I would just paint the OEM one but w/ the f'ed up ribbon, there's a chance the phone might quit working and painting the housing would void the warranty.
What about hanset insurance? That was my safety net when starting my mods to my phone. If i forgot to backup a file and it totally f'ed up my phone, i knew that all i'd have to do is run that mo fo over and only pay 35 bucks for a brand new one...
since you have cingular...tell me if you've heard of this...my brother had a problem with his v180 where the screen got all messed up. he talked to the cingular rep and they said that any downloads of pictures or ringtones from a non cingular provider voided his waranty. I say that's a steaming pile of horse SH*t. I can't and don't believe it.
