    Now my screen quit! Help!

I just replaced both the cable and the speaker at the earpiece. I was really careful when putting the cable through the bending section. Did I mess it up? Now my screen won't work, but I hear sounds again I think. A little help would greatly be appreciated since my backup phone was stolen at the gym last night. HELP! What should I do next? Replace the cable again? Or do I need a new screen?

    your 400 issue

Hello. I have a lot of experience with these phones and i'm going to try and help you. Make sure when you put the new flex cable in that both ends are securely fastened to their inputs. they make a small clicking noise when they are in all the way. if you insured this, hopefully you didn't sever the flex cable when you put it through the flip! As far as your sound goes, are you talking about the earpiece speaker? I know that for my phones, bending the end of the flex cable slightly inward towards the contacts on the speaker helps greatly. The problem with this and all v400's is that in their design, the flex cable that attaches to the earpiece is free floating; it's not clipped into a connector in any way. So when you assemble the phone again, it requires the force applied from another component to hold it in place. over time however, the contact is lost or poorly made, causing degenerative sound in your earpiece. I found this because all I did was squeeze the earpiece where the microphone is, and audio integrity increased considerably. Let me know if you have any questions, or if I can assist you in any way. I even have a few spare parts left over from some other projects that i can't sell, so I might be willing to just hand them out to people in dire need...it's the least I can do for all the people that have helped me with everything in the past.

    Cheers!

Would anyone have full housing installation instructions for the Motorola V557 or V551, preferably with pics???
Essentially I want to change my current V557 housing to another that I bought on ebay!
