is there anyway around this
the way I see it
the free internet service is the reason why I signed up for Tmobile isn't it in our contract, we should all call up and complain. [/B]
same here... sucks that its gone... probably wont renew my 1yr. any more.
They lost a HUGE selling point by removing free WAP. I'm thinking of moving to ATT, similarly priced, but atleast they give free incoming text messages, and coverage is pretty good.

I have been with T-Mobile since the good-ol Powertel days (Powertel>VoiceStream> and Now T-Mobile)
Powertel EACH incoming phone call free.
And:
When you were calling someone… and the phone rings for 30 seconds…, and they pick up and you talk for 31 seconds… You were billed for (1) minute, not (2)..
T-Mobile counts the time from the time you hit the SEND button (To do a ring request.. I.E uses LITTLE bandwidth since you’re NOT talking) to the time you hit the END button. The amount of amount of data transmitted while doing a ring request is NOTHING compared to the amount of data while you’re talking.
On another issue.
Had to drop that plan as my wife lost /had her phone stolen.. and after like 7-8 YEARS!! straight being with them, they were going to charge MORE for a replacement phone than some smuck walking in off the street that has never paid them a dime would pay for a phone.
Now they pull this FREE WAP Included stuff /WAP enabled phone… then take it away...
The right thing to do would be to grandfather in those persons affected, regardless…. And lock it down for new sign-ups… The amount of people that are (or were) accessing the FREE WAP was small…
I mean come on… How many people out there that are not visiting cellphone boards even know about the free Wap?
Here's what annoys me about them removing free wap access. I was on a sweet 2.99 plan which included 300 text messages, then I read that wap was free so I called T-mobile to confirm. They confirmed and said nothing about it bein a trial period or anything so I said I don't need T-zones, wap was working beautifully for a while now they've taken it away and won't give me back my 2.99 plan back. This bait and switch tactic is classic for T-mobile and for it I think I'm going to end up switching to Cingular. (T-mobile also upped their international text messaging rates and won't include them in any messaging plan, so even if I buy 300 messages I still have to pay $.15 for international messaging.) Sorry had to rant.
honestly, besides the first 2 weeks of getting the phone... i hardly used WAP. But it was a nice feature to have, and it also gave bragging rights. Now that its gone, it sucks. Tmobile has no edge over the competition now (unless they bring back the 1000 anytime + NW for 40). But I dont think I'd use 1000 minutes... Cingular does seem like a good option right now with the rollover minutes...
Just wanted to add my 2cents....THIS SUCKS>>>>>>>>>>>>> Im in Boise Idaho and they cut my wap off too!!!
I think they should have warned us. THis was actually a major deciding factor in my going with Tmobile. I feel like Ive been jipped.......granted 5 bones is not much for internet access but still the way they did this whole thing is VERY SHADY........I am loosing my confidence in Tmobile.
Not as bad as when you tranfer from another provider to T-Mobile just for the free WAP ....like me
AWS charges $8 for 1MB of data usage so $5 is not really bad for unlimited...the free WAP would have really been nice though, really really nice

It's true, it's really gone. How dare they want us to pay!! This suck's hot goldfish a$$. I am very upset. I used that thing on a daily bases, and went to use is yesterday and it was gone. I thought it was a fluke. Tried today and same thing. GRRRRRR. Oh well. Guess i have to stop being cheap and dish out the 4.99.
I just spoke with tmobile and they are telling me that the service is free. But then she said that the system went down and wasn't able to look any further into it. She would call me when the system came back online. Blah, they are getting like AT&T.
I changed the ip and it works for most wap pages, but i can't get the wap aim (http://wind.aol.com/?service=tmoible) to work. Also, I tried setting the sms through gprs settings on my unlocked samsung s307 but it would give me an error when i tried to send messages. I also have a nokia 3595 and it charges me text usage randomly when i use the built in aim client with gprs always on and text set to use gprs. Since I can't set the ip on the nokia 3595, does anyone know how I can get the sms settings to work on my s307 such that i won't get charged for texting? thanks
I probably should just leave it alone and be happy with the length of service but I followed a link to this thread from broadbandreports.com and it got me thinking.
Back in January (2004) I had a customer come into town who left his cell phone at his office out of state. They were sending it out overnight but I needed to be able to contact him later that day. Anyway I bought a pre paid easyspeak phone and $100 card thinking I can keep it around as a loaner for the office. I thought the prepay stuff expires in 60 days or so if no more $$$ has been added but it is the end of July and I just checked and the balance is still over 70 dollars. They say that wap is free for prepaid users and those activated before 4/04 need to call to turn it on but I am afraid if I call to activate that they might catch whatever the problem is(if there is one) that has kept the phone active for so long.
I haven't checked this site in only 2 days and all this crap has gone down. No wap in LA area as well. So free wap has now ended coast to coast. With all of you speaking of moving to ATT or Cingular, I have family and friends who belong to both and service is just as bad, if not worse. But that's in my area, south LA/north OC counties.
It's offical. Tmobile has lost it. I have spoken with 3 different reps, and they all say that the wap should be free, and they don't understand why i am getting the message to sign up for tzone. On a side note. There is a thread about service being out in NY area, so i mentioned that to the rep. She told me there are 7 towers with a half mile span of me that are down. I was told that the eta for repair is pending. What kind of crap is pending?
