Thumbs up may not be true, but

I just spoke to a T-mobile rep who said several towers went down yesterday nationwide (as far as WAP access is concerned) and they are still down in several areas (including new orleans where I am). She claims that as soon as they are back up, that all wap service will return as it was. So I am going to hold my breath, not change settings on my phone and etc., and see if she is correct.

Will have to wait and see because I have prepaid with Easyspeal and before it wouldnt let go to anywebpage it would say its not on my plan but the T-Zones worked. Now when I go to the T-Zones and try to access my account info it says Service Unavailable please try again later.

So something is going on that they are doing or something is down cause I cant look at my account balance and such.

I tried using the other gateway IP but I have a 3595 and when I put the IP address in there it doesnt work. Before it said I needed GPRS access but now it just keeping looking then stops.

SO now that T-Mobile has discontinued free WAP, is there any way around to get free WAP access again?

Does not meant that it has been discontinued. A lot of people i know have been getting the same information from Tmobile. I think we just need to wait and see.

If the WAP was "down" you would not be getting the "Sign-up now" message. Think about it... If the WAP was down, it just wouldn't work...

If you had a stock phone if Wap via GPRS was not available, the phone would revert to CSD to connect.

Hope I’m wrong, but Free Wap (Wap access included/Browser enabled phones) is gone. Technically you still have Wap access since your seeing that “Sign-Up now page” so T-Mobile can say “Wap Access included” … From the many conversations I’ve had over the past 6-months with CS, and the Wap dept I noticed a change from Wap access IS free to external sites outside T-Zones for those who do not have T-Zones…. TO: The “Free Wap is only for those persons who do not have T-Zones to enable them to access the T-Zones website for pay-as-you-go site ONLY for ringer downloads. etc… and NOTHING else.

In one of my last conversations with CS (and I called and talked with several different people at different call centers) I told them how underhanded it was to say you have FREE WAP access /Wap access included when the FREE access was ONLY to their pay-as-you-go website…..

In other words it isn’t FREE , or “included” when the only thing you can access is a pay-as-you-go site. “Big deal”… Free Wap access to T-Mobile’s pay-as-you-go site.

Hope I’m wrong about the above… But it looks like they have locked the system down for anyone who does not have T-Zones or higher on their account.

You can thank all those who having been hooking up laptops and such and abusing bandwidth for accelerating the lockdown. A couple of threads I was reading about had people who were “bragging” about downloading 50mb-100mb or more during their first 14 days! Data costs money, and they had to lock it down due to abuse. You could say they planned on locking it down anyways.. but put your self in their shoes…. A few people getting free Wap access is one thing (accessing the weather page, or other small text based pages) but having people hook up their phones and use it to suck down MB’s at a time like someone on a dsl /cable connection is downright abuse.

I was told by two separate CSR's that as of 7/30 free wap is gone, and you must pay $4.99 for t-zones to use it now. No one is grandfathered, it's just plain gone.

    Sucks.

Think about it here (common sense if you have it). Why would Tmobile have free wap for people but also have a 2.99/9.99 plan and the new 4.99 plan that replaces the 2 previous plans if they were just going to give it away for free????

I just do not see how you can get bent out of shape on this. Plus the CS reps and TS reps and sales reps I have ever talked to never told me wap is free but that you DO have to pay for it. This has been actual Tmobile employees I have asked just to see what the companies stance was on it. I think alot of you people here only hear and see what you want and then when reality sets in you get all mad cause it does no go with the made up little world you made for yourselves.

Ignorance may be bliss but I doubt it was ever FREE.

If you are post pid users than I dont think 5 bucks a month is a big deal if it is a service you abused when the loophole was around. If you are prepaid users so sorry for your bad luck, but I have heard from Tmo CS reps that something is in the works for you prepaid people.

I really do this crapping and moaning about the so called make believe free wap crap gets over with soon.

Most of you people are adults act like them and set a better example for the younger generation here and do what you know is honest and right, not underhanded and dishonest cause it saved you a few bucks every month. It is not that hard to make money in this world.......
Note to self: Why don't you ever listen to me?

We the unwilling led by the unqualified for so long with so little we now attempt the impossible with nothing

    Keep calling back

after talking to 3 different reps I finally got one ready to enable my wap (non T-Zones Access)

The funny part is that currently I can still connect to T-Zones for free. =)....

Oh well, worst thing is that I have to pay a whole $5/month for access.
